Incheon Launches Specialized Signage Support Program For Small Businesses


Incheon Metropolitan City has launched a “Small Business Specialized Signage Support Program” aimed at enhancing the visibility and competitiveness of local small businesses. The initiative supports the replacement of outdated signs with energy-efficient, regionally themed LED signage, helping to improve storefront appeal and attract more customers. Beyond individual store upgrades, the program seeks to enhance the overall image of local commercial districts and strengthen neighborhood branding. Notably, a new “group support” component has been introduced this year, expanding the program from individual businesses to entire commercial clusters, with the goal of revitalizing local business environments on a broader scale.





Incheon To Support Home Repairs For 67 Low-income And Elderly Households


Incheon Metropolitan City will provide home repair support for 67 low-income and elderly households earning 75% or less of the median income this year. The program includes assistance for 57 households under a “Senior Home Modification” initiative and 10 households under the “Hope Home Repair” project. The “Senior Home Modification” initiative will prioritize fall prevention and improved mobility, including the installation of safety handrails, anti-slip flooring, and the removal of door thresholds. The “Hope Home Repair” program will provide services such as wallpapering, flooring replacement, insulation upgrades, and improvements to windows and facilities.




Nighttime Cherry Blossom Viewing Event To Be Held At Ganghwasanseong Fortress


Ganghwa-gun will host a nighttime cherry blossom viewing event from April 8 to 17 along an 800-meter stretch from Goryeogung Palace Site to the north gate of Ganghwasanseong Fortress. During the event, the area will feature nighttime lighting and photo zones, along with street performances scheduled for April 11 and 12. To ensure visitor safety, vehicle access in the area will be fully restricted, and eight public parking lots will be designated for use. Additionally, a separate azalea flower viewing event will take place from April 11 to 19 around Goryeosan Mountain, with traffic controls implemented along key access routes.





Inspection Finds 17 Powdered Food Products Unsafe


The Incheon Institute of Health and Environment has found 17 out of 31 powdered food products tested in the first quarter to exceed safety standards due to metallic contaminants. The inspection targeted commonly consumed health products in powder form such as turmeric, noni, and finger root, focusing on the presence of metal fragments. Results showed that some products contained metallic substances, including metal shavings, above the allowable limit of 10.0 mg/kg, with the highest case exceeding the standard by up to 23 times. Authorities explained that such contaminants can occur during the grinding process using metal equipment, but can typically be removed through proper magnetic filtration, highlighting the need for stricter quality control.





Incheon Improves Authentication Process for More Convenience Water Bill Payment 


The Incheon Waterworks Headquarters has introduced a financial authentication service to simplify automatic water bill payments. Previously, applicants were required to use a recognized common certificate for electronic signatures. The newly added financial authentication service allows users to verify their identity more conveniently through a cloud-based system without storing certificates separately. With this improvement, residents can also choose when automatic payments will take effect, further enhancing user convenience.





Incheon Urges Use Of ‘Welfare Crisis Alert App’ For At-risk Households


Incheon Metropolitan City is encouraging residents to report households in crisis using the “Welfare Crisis Alert App” or seek help through community support networks. The app enables users to quickly request assistance for themselves or others facing financial hardship, health issues, or social isolation via smartphone. Available for free on major app stores, the service covers a wide range of welfare needs, including livelihood support, care and protection, healthcare, and housing assistance.
