Subjective cognitive decline refers to the earliest stage of dementia in which individuals perceive memory or cognitive issues, even if clinical tests show no clear abnormalities. Incheon introduced the nation’s first management guidelines for such cases in 2024, establishing a system that links early detection, counseling, screening, and preventive care. Residents experiencing early signs of cognitive decline are encouraged to seek evaluation at local dementia care centers.
Memorial Cultural Event To Mark 12th Anniversary Of Sewol Ferry Disaster
A memorial and cultural events will be held in Incheon on April 11 at Incheon Aetteul Plaza to mark the 12th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry disaster. Under the theme “The 12th Spring, Longing For A Better Tomorrow,” the event will begin with side programs and participatory activities at 3 p.m., followed by the main memorial ceremony at 4 p.m. Visitors can take part in activities such as writing memorial messages and composing acrostic poems in remembrance of the victims.
Incheon Launches Yeonhui Park Forest Guide Program to Awaken the Senses
The Gyeyang Park Management Office has launched the “2026 Yeonhui Park Forest Guide Program,” designed to help citizens experience the value and importance of forests firsthand. The program will run from March 24 to November 28, with two sessions held daily from Tuesday to Saturday. Participants will explore the park’s ecosystem, including trees, plants, and insects, under the guidance of trained forest guides, and engage in hands-on activities such as forest play and crafting with natural materials.
Incheon Selected For Public Asset Management Consulting Project
Incheon Metropolitan City has been selected as a participating local government in the “2026 Public Property Survey & Consulting Project” led by the Local Finance Association. The nationwide initiative aims to strengthen public asset management systems and establish a sustainable financial foundation for local governments. Incheon was selected in recognition of its expertise and commitment to collaboration within the metropolitan area. Incheon Metropolitan City and Incheon Technopark have announced the full-scale launch of the “2026 AI Playground Incheon” project to support AX or AI transformation among local small and medium-sized enterprises. The initiative aims to enhance future industrial competitiveness of local businesses by supporting AI adoption and advancement through four key programs: AI technology development, AI commercialization, AI transformation consulting, and AI integration support. Eligible participants include local SMEs with AI-based products and services, as well as companies seeking to adopt AI technologies.
12 Businesses Caught in Crackdown of Food Safety Violations
Incheon Metropolitan City has identified 12 businesses violating food safety regulations following a targeted investigation conducted from March 23 to April 3. The crackdown focused on restaurants and food-related businesses near hiking trails, parks, and tourist areas in time for the spring season when there is increased outdoor activities by the public. Authorities focused on food violations such as false origin labeling and other illegal practices involving livestock products such as sausages and pork to prevent illegal distribution and ensure food safety. Multiple violations were discovered, including failure to conduct required quality inspections, missing mandatory labeling such as expiration dates, and operating without proper business licenses. Four of the most serious cases will be referred to prosecutors, while administrative actions will be taken in coordination with local district offices.
