IFEZ Partners With Six Universities To Support Startup Tech Demonstration


The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ) will support startup technology demonstrations in collaboration with six partner universities. The initiative, titled the “Incheon Startup Park TRYOUT University Demonstration Project (Scale-Up Challenge Lab),” involves Seoul National University, Yonsei University, Inha University, Incheon National University, Chungwoon University, and SUNY Korea. IFEZ and participating universities plan to leverage research institutes and expert groups to validate startups’ business models in real-world settings and accelerate commercialization.





Incheon Marina Development Stalls As Deokjeok Marina Site Designation Revoked


Incheon’s Marina development has stalled since the opening of Wangsan Marina in 2017, with no additional projects materializing. According to the city, four marina development zones designated under the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries’ Second Marina Port Master Plan (2020–2029) have yet to break ground. Marinas, which provide docking and maintenance facilities for yachts and boats, require inclusion in the national master plan for marina development, which is established by the Oceans Ministry every ten years. The city plans to actively support project operators in developing facilities tailored to regional characteristics, considering the large-scale investment and land reclamation required.





Incheon Launches Joint Crackdown On Loan Companies To Prevent Illegal Lending Damage


Incheon Metropolitan City will conduct a joint intensive inspection and crackdown targeting loan companies to prevent damages to citizens from illegal private lending. The joint crackdown, taking place from April 13 to 22, will involve city officials, district authorities, and police, targeting 25 loan companies across the region. Authorities will focus on compliance issues such as business registration status, proper documentation and storage of loan contracts, excessive lending practices, adherence to legal interest rate limits, debt collection practices, and false or exaggerated advertising. 





Incheon Opens AI And Digital Leadership Course For Women Leaders


Incheon Metropolitan City will launch an AI and digital leadership course starting May 2 as part of its Women Leaders Academy. The program aims to nurture capable female talent by providing practical training in generative AI, data-driven economic analysis, and leadership in the digital transformation era. Participants are expected to gain skills to adapt to changing environments and apply new knowledge to both daily life and professional settings.





Incheon To Select Public Nurse Scholarship Recipients To Strengthen Healthcare Workforce


Incheon Metropolitan City will select 20 scholarship recipients under its 2026 Public Nurse Scholarship Program to ensure a stable supply of healthcare personnel. Each recipient will receive up to 10 million won and must serve for two years at the Incheon Medical Center after graduation. Since launching the program in 2023, the city has reduced nurse shortages at the Center and strengthened its essential public healthcare workforce.





Incheon Expands “Mind Care School” Mental Health Outreach Program


Incheon Metropolitan City will continue and expand its visiting mental health education program, “Mind Care School,” to improve citizens’ self-care capabilities. The program focuses on emotional awareness and mindfulness practices to enhance psychological resilience and is delivered directly at locations in need. It consists of two interactive sessions and will expand this year to include youth, with applications already coming in from schools, youth organizations, senior centers and welfare institutions.





Inha University Helps Establish Digital Supply Chain Department at Peruvian National University


Inha University has established the Department of Digital Supply Chain and Logistics Engineering at the National University of San Marcos in Peru, marking its first intake of students. This is the first such program in South America integrating digital supply chain and logistics education. Inha University is participating as the lead university in the Korea Research Foundation’s “Leading University Project for International Cooperation” initiative, and is building a cooperative model in Peru that links education, research, and entrepreneurship. Currently, the university is developing a curriculum that integrates AI-based digital supply chains, logistics, and entrepreneurship, and plans to establish a logistics laboratory and educational and research equipment.
