Incheon Metropolitan City will provide an additional 50,000 won in high fuel cost relief subsidies to 220,000 low-income residents who are eligible for the first round of payments. The subsidies will be distributed from May 11 through July 3. The additional support fund is intended to compensate for the government allocating less fuel relief funds to the Seoul Metropolitan Area than to non-capital regions. The support will be distributed through the Incheon E-eum local currency card. Residents can apply 24 hours a day through the E-eum mobile app or in person at their local administrative welfare center.
Incheon Expands Incentives for Local Builders in Urban Renewal Projects

The city has increased floor area ratio incentives for urban redevelopment and housing improvement projects involving Incheon-based companies from the current 10 percent to a maximum of 20 percent. Officials will also strengthen oversight of subcontracting cooperation plans for public projects worth more than 30 billion won and private projects valued at over 26.5 billion won to ensure local firms have greater opportunities to participate.
Incheon Opens New Public Parking Lot in Historic Open Port Area
Incheon has officially opened the Gaehangjang Public Parking Lot to help ease chronic parking shortages around Sinpo-dong and Incheon Chinatown. Full-scale operations began in May for citizens to use. Located in 2-1 Hang-dong 4-ga in Jung-gu, the new facility was established in an area with high demand for parking from tourists and citizens alike as it is adjacent to one of the city's busiest commercial and tourist areas. Incheon to Inspect 383 Daycare Centers to Prevent Food Poisoning
Incheon Metropolitan City will conduct joint hygiene inspections with each district and county targeting 383 daycare center cafeterias within its jurisdiction from May 11 to 29. The inspections are aimed at preventing bacterial and viral foodborne illnesses during a season when outbreaks become more common. The city plans to inspect all 640 daycare center group meal facilities across Incheon this year.

The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education will host online career guidance lectures for students and parents on May 12 and 14. The program offers customized career information based on each school level and current educational trends. Elementary students will explore careers in the social sciences, middle school students will receive advice on personal statements for science and gifted high schools, and high school students will learn strategies to prepare and study for both early and regular college admissions.
Incheon Arts Center's "Hwang.Geum.To.Kki" Returns in New Venues
Incheon Culture & Arts Center's popular outdoor performance series, “Golden Fridays & Talented Performance Saturdays” (Hwang.Geum.To.Kki), will be staged at cultural complexes and outdoor plazas this year. The relocation comes as the original venue is temporarily closed due to construction of an underground public parking facility at Jungang Neighborhood Park. With the new venues, the performances will return to audiences in a new form to continue providing citizens with opportunities to enjoy culture. Geomdan Prehistory Museum Extends Children's Special Exhibition Through May
In celebration of Family Month, Geomdan Prehistory Museum, located in Wondang-dong, Seo-gu, has extended its children's interactive exhibition through May 31. The hands-on special exhibition shows how artifacts are excavated and eventually displayed in museums, using child-friendly activities. Originally scheduled to run only until early May, the exhibition has been extended to provide more opportunities for visitors to experience it. The free exhibition is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., except Mondays, in the special exhibition hall on the 2nd floor.
Incheon Port Authority Earns Top Customer Satisfaction Rating for 3rd Straight Year
Incheon Port Authority received the highest possible rating of, "Excellent," in the 2025 customer satisfaction survey conducted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. The authority was the top performer among 10 other public institutions that were surveyed, and was recognized for its customer-centric management performance by maintaining both the highest score and rating for three consecutive years. Port Authority officials credited the achievement to communicating closely with the public through online and offline channels, and reflecting customer opinions including those of the public, and internal and external stakeholders.
