Korean Emigration History Museum to Host Special Screening with Diaspora Film Festival
The Museum of Korean Emigration History will hold a special screening on May 16 in collaboration with the 14th Diaspora Film Festival. Titled "Meeting the Diaspora Film Festival at the Museum," the special film festival pre-event has been organized by the Incheon Film Council, and is being hosted by Incheon Metropolitan City in cooperation with the Emigration Museum. The featured film will be the documentary, “No Other Land,” which was screened at last year’s festival. Additional events linked to the film festival will also take place near the museum.
Incheon TP Supports Process Improvements for Root Industries
Incheon Technopark (TP) is launching the 2026 Root Industry Process Improvement Support Program to strengthen the competitiveness of local manufacturers and boost the local economy. The initiative targets companies in core industrial sectors such as casting, mold-making, welding, heat treatment, and surface treatment to improve their production process and increase manufacturing efficiency. With a budget of 345 million won, the program is expected to create about 24 new jobs. Incheon TP has improved the efficiency of its budget operations, enabling it to support more companies than before.
Incheon Launches Crackdown on Misuse of Local Currency
Incheon Metropolitan City will conduct a citywide inspection through June 7 to prevent fraudulent distribution and use of Incheon’s local currency or Incheon E-eum. The inspection, running from May 11 to June 7, will target 112,754 affiliated merchants. Officials said the crackdown is a preemptive measure focusing on preventing abuse of recent fuel cost relief payments distributed through the local currency system.
Incheon Named Outstanding Food Safety Agency for 6th Straight Year
Incheon has been selected as an “outstanding” institution for the 6th consecutive year in the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety’s annual evaluation of food safety management. The city received high marks for its field-oriented hygiene inspections and rapid response system, and was recognized for its stable administrative capabilities in the field of food safety. This year’s evaluation was conducted on 17 cities and provinces nationwide, focusing on a total of 13 detailed indicators, including the food safety management operating system, hygiene management level, implementation of government policies, and inter-agency collaboration performance. Following its designation as the top-performing agency in 2021, Incheon has been recognized every year since and will receive a commendation from the ministry along with a 3 million won award.
Incheon Education Office Raises Support for Teachers to 3 Million Won
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education has amended its notice on burden of cost for protective measures against disruption of educational activities and the right to exercise indemnity for teachers, increasing financial support from the existing two million to three million won. The revised policy took effect on April 30 and is intended to provide more robust support for the psychological and physical recovery of teachers who have been victimized by acts of infringement on educational activities. Education officials said the support limit has been raised to three million won to reflect the demands of the field and the increase in treatment costs.
Songam Art Museum Opens Permanent Exhibition Space for Children
Celebrating Family Month, the Songam Art Museum has opened a new permanent exhibition area designed to help children explore traditional Korean art in an engaging way. Located in Hagik-dong, Michuhol-gu, the museum specializes in antique Korean art. It houses customized exhibition spaces and permanent exhibitions for children so that visitors can enjoy the exhibits as a family. The new permanent exhibition is titled “Tiger’s Secret Invitation,” and follows a whimsical story in which the tiger from traditional folk paintings invites other animals featured in Korean artworks to meet young visitors.
