Bupyeong-gu Completes Vehicle Access Control System Along Gulpocheon Stream 


Vehicle access control systems at entrances to the Gulpocheon Stream ecological restoration area in Bupyeong-gu have been installed and have begun full-scale operation. The project was carried out to prevent accidents involving the eco-stream’s users during seasons of heavy rainfall and rising water levels caused by climate change. The district installed nine vehicle access control facilities along the eco-stream section between the administrative welfare center and the Bupyeong-gu Office. In addition, 18 surveillance cameras have been installed throughout the area to strengthen real-time monitoring and enable rapid responses during emergencies.




Health Food Company Named ‘Good Store’ for Five Years of Community Giving


Health food manufacturer Baekse Prime has been newly designated as a “Good Store” by Ganseok-2-dong Administrative Welfare Center. The center announced it recently held a plaque presentation ceremony. The Good Store program is a regular donation initiative operated by the Community Chest of Korea, recognizing businesses that make ongoing monthly contributions to support residents in need. The program aims to promote a culture of sharing, strengthen local communities, and enhance the social welfare safety net through public-private cooperation.



Agriculture Ministry Inspects Quarantine Measures Ahead of Summer Travel Season


The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has conducted an inspection of border quarantine and livestock disease prevention measures at Incheon International Airport on June 2. The inspection comes ahead of the summer vacation season following outbreaks of a new SAT1 strain of foot-and-mouth disease in China and Mongolia. Officials reviewed on-site quarantine procedures, including X-ray screening of livestock products carried by travelers, and received reports on disease prevention efforts from Incheon and other relevant agencies. The government is currently administering SAT1 foot-and-mouth disease vaccinations in 11 cities and counties in border regions, including Ganghwa-gun and Ongjin-gun.






Ongjin-gun Offers Seafood Discounts and Shipping Subsidies in June


Ongjin-gun will operate a program to support local fishermen and boost seafood consumption through June 30. The “Mutual Support Project for Fishermen Amid High Fuel Prices” initiative provides consumer discounts and shipping cost assistance for vendors selling seafood through the county’s online marketplace, Ongjin Nature Mall. A total of 16 vendors selling seafood produced in Ongjin-gun are participating in the program. Consumers purchasing seafood through the online platform between June 1 and June 30 will receive an immediate 20 percent discount at checkout, with a maximum discount of 10,000 won per person.




Ongjin-gun Expands Visiting Pest Control Service for Vulnerable Households


Ongjin-gun will launch an on-site pest control and sanitation service aimed at improving living conditions for single-person households and vulnerable families at risk of social isolation or unattended death. The program provides professional pest management and disinfection services to elderly residents, people with chronic illnesses, and other vulnerable individuals who have difficulty maintaining sanitary living conditions on their own. Building on the success of a pilot project conducted in Yeongheung-myeon in 2025, the county plans to expand the program to Bukdo-myeon this year. Officials said the expansion will allow more vulnerable residents to live in safer and cleaner environments




Gyeyang Cultural Center Opens Aracheon Design Cube Facility Rental Application


The Gyeyang Cultural Center will accept applications through June 11 for gallery and club room rentals at Aracheon Design Cube for the second half of 2026. Located in the Gyeyang Ara Waterway area, Aracheon Design Cube is a multi-purpose cultural complex that supports local arts activities through exhibitions, educational programs and hands-on cultural experiences. This will be the first regular rental period since the facility completed renovation work. The center said the newly refurbished space will be opened to local artists, cultural organizations and residents to encourage a wide range of cultural and artistic activities and help revitalize the local arts scene.
