Incheon Secures Defense Innovation Cluster Project Worth 49 Billion Won
Incheon Metropolitan City has become the finalist for the Defense Acquisition Program Administration’s Defense Innovation Cluster Project.
The city announced on the 14th that the project is a large-scale initiative with a total budget of 49 billion won to be invested over the next five years.
As part of the plan, the city aims to establish an “Incheon Defense Industry Belt”by linking the southern industrial zone, including Songdo International City and the Namdong National Industrial Complex, with the northern industrial zone centered around the Bupyeong National Industrial Complex.
Incheon Launches Study to Foster Bio and Digital Health Industries
Incheon Metropolitan City has begun a research project to establish future development strategies for the rapidly evolving bio industry.
During the 11th Incheon Bio Health Valley Promotion Council meeting, the city held a kickoff briefing for a comprehensive master plan on fostering the bio and digital health industries from 2026 to 2031.
The study will formulate mid- to long-term development strategies and annual implementation plans for the industries over the next five years.
Based on the findings, the city plans to nurture the bio and digital health sectors as key future growth engines and further strengthen its position as a leading bio hub city
Incheon Achieves Best-Ever Results in National Local Government Evaluation
Incheon has achieved its highest-ever score in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Joint Evaluation ofLocal Governments for 2026, demonstrating one of the strongest levels of administrative performances nationwide.
The city significantly improved its overall performance from the previous year, achieving 86.1 percent of all evaluation indicators while earning recognition for six best practices in areas directly affecting residents' quality of life, including childbirth support, emergency and essential healthcare, autonomous policing and cultural policy.
In the quantitative assessment, Incheon met 87 out of 92 indicators, posting an achievement rate of 94.6 percent.
Incheon Launches 8th “100 Fathers Group” Parenting Program
Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon branch of the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association has held a launching ceremony for the 8th Incheon “100 Fathers Group” program.
The program is aimed at encouraging fathers’participation in childcare and promoting a culture of shared parenting. Jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the city government, the program brings together first-time fathers to exchange parenting tips and strengthen bonds with their children.
The newly selected participants will complete weekly online missions in five areas: play, education, health, daily life and relationships. The weekly missions will be guided by experienced mentor fathers, helping the new fathers to build a supportive parenting community.
Camp Market to Host Citizen Experience Festival Through November
Incheon Camp Market will transform into a vibrant urban cultural space by hosting a series of free interactive programs open to all residents through November.
Incheon has announced that the programs are designed to highlight Camp Market’s historical, cultural and recreational value while accelerating efforts to develop the site into a signature public park shaped by community participation.
City officials added that they will continue expanding hands-on programs so visitors can experience Camp Market not simply as a park, but as a unique space where history and culture coexist.
Incheon Education Office Websites Receive Web Accessibility Certification
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education’s efforts to improve website usability for digitally vulnerable groups has been recognized by receiving the Web Accessibility Quality Certification.
The education office said four of its websites, including its main portal, earned the certification following an evaluation conducted by a nationally accredited certification body designated by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The certification is awarded to websites that comply with at least 95 percent of web accessibility guidelines and successfully pass both expert reviews and user testing, ensuring convenient access for people with disabilities and older adults.
