Songdo's K-Bio Lab Hub to Break Ground in Third Quarter


The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority has completed the bidding process to select a contractor for the K-Bio Lab Hub project and plans to begin full-scale construction in the third quarter of this year. 

The K-Bio Lab Hub will be built at Songdo’s Yonsei University International Campus and cost a total of 93 billion won in construction. The facility will feature one basement level and nine above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 20,375 square meters. 

An IFEZ official said the K-Bio Lab Hub will serve as a key pillar of the future bio ecosystem by fostering startups, supporting technology commercialization, and strengthening global networks in connection with Songdo's bio cluster. The official added that the authority will provide full administrative support to ensure the project is completed on schedule.




Incheon Completes Preparations for Jemulpo-gu Launch


Incheon Metropolitan City has completed key administrative, financial, and organizational preparations ahead of launching the new Jemulpo-gu district. 

The city announced that the Jemulpo-gu Launch Joint Working-Level Council will conclude its activities on June 30. 

Over the past year and eight months, the council has played a central role in organizing major tasks and laying the foundation for the stable operation of the new district. 

As a result, residents are expected to continue receiving public services without significant disruption after Jemulpo-gu officially launches.




Incheon Hosts Semiconductor Forum on Advanced Packaging Technologies


Incheon has successfully hosted the Incheon Semiconductor Forum Technology Exchange to strengthen cooperation among industry, academia, research institutes, and government in support of the country's advanced semiconductor packaging industry. 

The event, organized by the city and hosted by the Incheon Semiconductor Forum and Incheon Technopark, brought together around 150 representatives from semiconductor companies, universities, and research institutes to discuss the latest technological trends and opportunities for collaboration. 

Launched by the city in 2021 with about 20 member organizations, the Incheon Semiconductor Forum has grown into the region's leading semiconductor cooperation network, now comprising 100 member organizations through active communication and networking.




Geomdan-gu Unveils Official Symbols Ahead of July 1 Launch


Geomdan-gu, a new district set to officially launch on July 1 as part of Incheon's administrative reorganization, has unveiled its official symbols. 

The district's official emblem incorporates the Korean consonants "ㄱ” (giyeok) and "ㄷ” (digeut) from the name Geomdan. 

The district’s official mascots are "Geomi," a seed of hope born from the Geomdan tidal flats, and "Danbi," a character symbolizing wishes coming true. 

Geomi represents the roots and history of Geomdan while planting hope for local residents, while Danbi symbolizes life-giving rain that helps residents' hopes flourish.




Jung-gu Wins National Policy Performance Award for Fifth Straight Year


Jung-gu has received the Excellence Award in Incheon's 2026 National Policy Performance Evaluation for districts and counties, securing a financial incentive of 110 million won. 

The evaluation was based on local governments' implementation of national policy initiatives and their performance in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's joint local government assessment. 

Jung-gu has now been recognized for five consecutive years, receiving Special Awards in 2022 and 2023, Encouragement Awards in 2024 and 2025, and this year's Excellence Award.
