Incheon Institute launches living lab project to boost bicycle path use in Songdo
The Incheon Institute, the city's think tank, will carry out a living lab project through December to promote greater use of bicycle paths in Songdo International City.
The project, led by the Incheon Carbon Neutrality Youth Supporters, adopts a user-driven innovation model in which citizens identify problems in the field and work together to develop practical solutions.
As part of the initiative, participants will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current bicycle path network and identify issues in Songdo, where demand for cycling is high, with the goal of developing effective measures to encourage greater bicycle use.
Incheon’s smart tourism app wins top prize at ICT Awards
Incheon Metropolitan City’s smart tourism app, Incheon EASY, has won the Grand Prize in the Public and Healthcare category at the ICT AWARD KOREA 2026.
The app was recognized for its AI-powered public service innovation and its inclusive digital tourism services, designed to improve accessibility and convenience for both domestic and international visitors, including travelers with special needs.
The AI travel assistant, launched in June, offers a one-stop travel service that allows users to search for tourist information, receive personalized itinerary recommendations, navigate with map-based directions, and access discount coupons and stamp tour benefits, all within a single app.
Incheon expands research equipment sharing program for local businesses
Incheon Metropolitan City says it has expanded and revised its Research Equipment Sharing Support Program to make it more accessible for local companies, with the new criteria taking effect on August 7th.
The program supports research and development and product advancement by subsidizing the cost of using research equipment needed for prototype development, product improvement, testing, and certification.
Eligible small and medium-sized enterprises with a headquarters, factory, or research institute located in Incheon can receive up to 3 million won in equipment usage support per company.
Incheon Art Platform hosts Cha Ki-yul's solo exhibition ‘Reconciling with the Sea’
Incheon Art Platform, operated by the Incheon Foundation for Arts and Culture, will present "Reconciling with the Sea" (Hwahaegi), a solo exhibition by Cha Ki-yul, a professor at the University of Incheon and the recipient of the mid-career artist award in the 2025 Incheon Artist of the Year program.
The exhibition will run from August 13th through October 18th at Exhibition Hall B of Incheon Art Platform.
Featuring more than 60 works, including major pieces from the artist's long-running series and new creations inspired by Incheon and the West Sea, the exhibition explores themes of nature and civilization, memory and place, and the cycle of life.
The opening ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. on August 13th at Exhibition Hall B.
Incheon Institute strengthens policy research support for city's ninth elected administration
The Incheon Institute has established a proactive policy research support system to help implement the new city administration's vision of “Unrivaled Growth, Joyful Change."
The institute will provide close support for key policy pledges under the ninth elected municipal administration, including the ABC+EF and Jemunbu Project initiatives, while launching three president-led task forces: the Future Industry Innovation Research Group, the Old Downtown Innovation Research Group, and the R&D Innovation Research Group.
Ahead of the implementation of the Regional-Led Science and Technology Innovation Promotion Act in January 2027, the R&D Innovation Research Group will focus on strengthening regional research capabilities by establishing a governance framework that links local strategic industries with national R&D programs.
Incheon Youth Future Center helps young family caregivers create lasting memories
The Incheon Youth Future Center, operated by the Incheon Public Agency for Social Service, says it has organized a family portrait program for family caregiving youth.
The center selected 10 families for the program, with the photo session taking place on August 3rd at a photo studio in Bucheon.
A center official said the program was designed to give young caregivers a brief respite from their caregiving responsibilities, adding that the center will continue developing meaningful support programs for them in the future.
