Incheon Completes Construction of Municipal Dementia Care Home

Incheon Metropolitan City will hold a completion ceremony for its new municipal dementia care home in Galhyeon-dong, Gyeyang-gu, on August 27. 

Built in line with the government’s national responsibility policy for dementia care, the facility has a total floor area of 2,980 square meters and consists of one basement level and five above-ground floors. 

It includes a physical therapy room, sensory stimulation room and program rooms. The facility features a unit-style layout, allowing small groups of residents to live together in a home-like environment. 

Bedrooms and living rooms are grouped into individual living units to provide elderly residents with greater emotional stability, while safety features have been incorporated to minimize risks associated with unexpected behavior.

Incheon’s ‘Lost & Found’ Campaign Video Hits 45 Million Views in 10 Days

Incheon Metropolitan City says its city-brand campaign video titled “Lost & Found” has surpassed 45 million views in just 10 days. 

The campaign, developed in conjunction with the 2026 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival, was posted on the city’s official Instagram account on August 10. 

It aimed to promote Incheon’s positive and upbeat image as a “city of music,” encouraging festivalgoers to return to the city and boost local tourism. 

Forest Therapy Programs Expanded at ‘Incheon Healing Forest’

Incheon Grand Park Management Office will begin an expanded pilot operation of forest therapy programs at the newly developed Incheon Healing Forest starting August 29. 

The programs aim to help residents reduce stress and restore their physical and mental well-being. 

The Healing Forest, currently under development, features a variety of therapeutic spaces as well as an indoor facility called Eoulchae. 

The expanded pilot program will offer more multi-session programs tailored to different groups to enhance the therapeutic benefits of spending time in the forest. 

Incheon Holds Rice Cake Soup Giveaway to Mark ‘Rice Day’

The Incheon Metropolitan City Agricultural Technology Center held a giveaway of rice-cake soup to promote the consumption of locally produced rice on August 18, marking “Rice Day.” 

The event was designed to highlight the hard work of farmers and boost rice consumption, which has been declining amid increasingly Westernized eating habits. 

Rice Day, observed on August 18, takes its name from the Chinese character for rice, which can be broken down into the numbers 88. 

The number symbolizes the traditional belief that it takes 88 touches of a farmer’s hand to produce a single grain of rice. 

Members of the local Rural Women Leaders Federation handed out 100 boxes of instant rice-cake soup to residents at district office service counters and other locations, promoting the nutritional value and quality of Korean rice.

Incheon Port Authority Develops AI Assistant for Employees

The Incheon Port Authority (IPA) has developed and distributed an artificial intelligence “Regulation Assistant” to employees, trained on the Port Act and the authority’s internal regulations. 

The project was launched as a pilot initiative to explore practical applications of AI technology in the authority’s day-to-day operations. 

The AI assistant combines retrieval-augmented generation, or RAG, technology with a large language model, providing employees with relevant provisions and supporting references in response to their questions. 

The authority conducted preliminary testing and gathered feedback from an internal employee pilot group before deciding to roll out the system.

Inha University Names Three Lecture Halls After Donors

 Inha University has named three lecture halls after alumni business leaders who made major contributions to the university’s development. 

The university held a plaque-unveiling ceremony to honor the donors and recognize their contributions to the university’s development. 

The classrooms are located in the newly built Semiconductor and Bio Education Building, and have each been named after the donors, Han Bok-woo, Kim Jong-hyun and Hwang Jeong-hyun lecture halls respectively. 

Located on the second floor of the building, the rooms will be used as educational spaces, including for hands-on semiconductor training.
