Birth of a museum, the blossom of culture and art

The phrase "first ever" cannot be overstated when describing Incheon. Incheon is the doorway through which new civilizations arrived from the outside world and the location of numerous early records. The title of 'first' was recently carved once more in Incheon. Museums containing a breadth of regional traits and expertise are in the works. The National Museum of World Writing Systems, which opens in June of this year in Songdo Central Park, is the grand finale of Incheon's culture and art road. It is significant since it is only the third in the world and the first in Korea to open. The 'Incheon National Maritime Museum,' which will open in 2024 and become a new feature of Wolmido Island, is the metropolitan area's first national maritime cultural center and will exhibit a museum that only Incheon, a port city, can show.

A 'port' that has become a cultural and artistic landmark

Incheon's lack of a public art museum has disappointed art lovers. However, with the opening of the Incheon Museum Park in 2027, a signal flare is launched for Incheon's culture and arts. This is the year the 'Sangsang Platform,' which includes everything from culture and arts to tourism and convenience, is made available to citizens. The Sangsang Platform, which will be built on Piers 1 and 8 of the Inner Harbor, will serve as a springboard for the Jemulpo Renaissance Project, which intends to establish a "harbor city that embraces culture and art." It intends to offer a unique experience of appreciating the beauty of the harbor city of Incheon, as well as cultural and creative content.
