It exhibits 120 artifacts related to various wars that took place from the prehistoric era to the modern and contemporary eras.
In exhibition halls for each era, visitors can experience lively scenes through the actual weapons used in wars, replicas, and figures.

Ganghwa County 6.25 Veterans Memorial Park to be Mindful of the Solemn Sacrifices
2번 조각, 숭고한 희생을 기리기 위한
6.25참전용사 기념공원
Ganghwa County 6.25 Veterans Memorial Park was established in 2016 as a tribute to the commitments of fellow soldiers from Ganghwado.
6.25 참전용사기념공원은 강화도 출신 전우들의 뜻을 모아 2016년에 만들어진 공원으로 국가보훈처 지정 현충시설이다.
It is a memorial facility approved by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. The park offers detailed information about the Korean War, helping visitors learn about its background, progress, and significance. Situated between a small signboard and a coastal route lined with barbed wire, the park can be accessed after crossing Ganghwa Bridge and going slightly uphill.
그만큼 6.25 전쟁에 대해 자세하게 안내되어 있어, 그 배경부터 진행 과정과 규모 등을 알 수 있다. 공원은 강화대교를 건넌 후 조금 올라가면 작은 안내판과 철조망이 쳐진 바닷길 사이에 위치한다.
The military police figure and barbed wire at the entrance recreate the atmosphere of the era, while soldier figures and war photos displayed inside vividly convey images of the battlefield.
공원 입구의 헌병 인형과 철조망은 당시의 분위기를 그대로 전하며, 안쪽에는 군인 모형과 전쟁 사진들이 전시돼 있어 전장의 생생한 모습을 전한다.
Notably, the information about the 16 nations that shed blood for the Korean Peninsula prompts reflection on the tragedy of war and international solidarity.
특히 한반도를 위해 피를 흘린 16개 참전국에 대한 정보는 전쟁의 비극과 국제적 연대를 다시금 생각하게 만든다.
At the end of the park, the Korean War Veterans Memorial allows visitors to pay their respects in a natural setting.

Ganghwa Peace Observatory toPray for Peace and Unification
3번 조각, 평화와 통일을 염원하는
강화평화전망대
The Ganghwa Peace Observatory opened in 2008 and is situated within the civilian control line in Cheolsan-ri, the northernmost part of Ganghwado. To access it, you must pass through the Marine Corps checkpoint.
2008년 문을 연 강화평화전망대는 강화도 취복단 철산리 민통선 지역에 위치해 있어 해방대 검문소를 통과한 뒤 입장할 수 있다.
The exhibition halls on the first and second floors of the observatory introduce Ganghwado’s military history, the current status of North and South Koreas, and the unified future,
and the third floor offers a view of the Yeonbaek Plain of North Korea over the window.
전망대 내부 1·2층 전시관에서는 강화도의 군사적 역사와 남북한의 현재, 통일 미래를 소개하고 있으며 3층에서는 북한의 연백평야가 유리창 넘어로 펼쳐진다.
With coin-operated binoculars, visitors can observe the scenery of North Korean villages more clearly, and the cultural heritage commentator’s explanation further enhances their understanding.
유로 망원경을 이용하면 북한 마을의 풍경을 더욱 또렷하게 관찰할 수 있고, 문화관광해설사의 설명도 함께 들을 수 있어 이해를 더한다.

Attention before Entering Gyodongdo Island!
교동도에 들어가기 전 필수 정보!
Gyodongdo is an island that can be reached by a bridge.
교동도는 다리로 오갈 수 있는 섬이다.
However, since it is situated inside the civilian control line in a restricted area for civilians, visitors must obtain temporary passes by presenting their identification card or passport at the checkpoint on the north side of the Gyodong Bridge, unlike other islands connected by bridges.
다만 민간인출입통제구역 민통선 안쪽이기 때문에 다른 연륙 섬과 달리 교동대교 북쪽 검문소에서 신분증 또는 여권을 제시하고 임시출입증을 받아야 한다.

Hwagae Garden, Embracing Nature and History of Gyodongdo
4번 조각, 교동도의 자연과 역사를 품은
화개정원
A beautiful resting place is created along the northern foot of Hwagaesan Mountain.
화개산 북쪽 기슭을 따라 아름다운 쉼터가 조성됐다.
Hwagae Garden officially opened in May 2023. The garden has five themes: water, history and culture, memory, peace, and healing.
바로 2023년 5월 정식 오픈한 화개정원이다. 정원은 ‘물, 역사·문화, 추억, 평화, 치유’ 5개의 테마로 구성된 공원이다.
It offers a space that combines walking and healing with various plants, sculptures, and photo zones installed across the place.
다양한 식물과 조형물, 포토존이 곳곳에 조성돼 있어 산책과 힐링이 어우러진 공간을 제공한다.
When you walk along the trail, which is a 40-minute course, you will reach the observatory at the summit of the garden.
약 40분 코스로 구성된 산책로를 따라 걸으면 정원에 정점인 전망대에 이르게 된다.
In particular, it doubles the pleasure of walking in the season when the greenery gets darker, and it is also great to stop by a shelter across the garden to enjoy the romance of nature for a while.
특히 초록이 짙어지는 계적에는 길을 걷는 즐거움이 배가 되고, 곳곳에 마련된 쉼터에서 잠시 멈춰 자연의 낭만을 느껴보는 것도 좋다.
At the observatory located at the summit, you can enjoy breathtaking views at a glance, including the Gogu Reservoir and Hwanghae-do in North Korea, as well as Songaksan Mountain in Gaeseong on a sunny day.
정상에 위치한 전망대에서는 고구저수지와 더불어 북한 황해도, 날씨가 맑은 날엔 개성의 송악산까지 한눈에 담을 수 있다.
The observatory was designed after a spoonbill and its beak and eyes face northward, representing the ‘symbol of a soar’ toward the north, which is so close that it seems you can touch it, yet you cannot reach it.
전망대는 저어새를 형상화해 만들어졌으며 그 부리와 눈은 북녘을 바라보고 있어 손닿을 듯 가까우면서도 닿을 수 없는 북쪽을 향한 ‘비상의 상징’을 담고 있다.

Fifth Piece
Daeryong Market with Traces of the Sorrows of Displaced People
5번 조각, 실향민들의 애환이 깃든
대룡시장
Residents from Yeonbaek-gun, Hwanghae-do, fled to Gyodongdo during the Korean War. They thought they could return any day, but they could not after the estuary of the Hangang River became the dividing line.
6·25전쟁으로 황해도 연백군에서 교동도로 피난을 온 주민들. 금방 돌아갈 수 있다고 생각했지만, 한강하구가 분단선이 되면서 이들은 고향으로 다시 갈 수 없게 됐다.
Later, the displaced people created ‘Daeryong Market,’ modeled after the market in their hometown, to make a living. Visitors can enjoy North Korean dishes, such as Hwanghae-do-style cold noodles, mandu (dumpling) hot pot, and gangaji tteok (rice cake). The alley, which maintains its image from the 1960s, evokes nostalgic sentiments.
이후 실향민들은 생계를 위해 고향시장을 본뜬 ‘대룡시장’을 조성했다. 이곳에서는 황해도식 냉면, 만두전골, 강아지떡 등 이북 음식을 맛볼 수 있으며, 1960년대 모습을 간직한 골목은 옛 감성을 자아낸다.
The displaced people regarded the swallows that nested in the area as guests from their hometown and did not intentionally remove their nests.
곳곳에 둥지를 튼 제비들은 실향민에게 고향의 방문객처럼 여겨져 일부러 그 보금자리를 없애지 않았다고 전해진다
Visitors can actually find swallows flying over the market.
실제로 시장 위를 날아다니는 제비를 목격할 수 있다.
