Incheon Industrial Complex, which has led the industrialization of Korea, is seeking a major transformation for the next 100 years.

It contains the will to create a space where workers and young people can risk their future and find it again while maintaining the manufacturing function of the industrial complex.

Incheon Industrial Complex, which has led Korea's industrialization, is slowly losing its vitality as young people avoid it because of the poor working environment due to aging. An improvement plan is needed to change the negative perception of the 'Gray Factory'.

Therefore, Incheon plans to prepare for the next 100 years by building the industrial complex as a cultural landmark and evolving into a ‘business space by day and an industrial cultural space by night’.

As the three main goals to implement this, creation of a vibrant landmark that takes advantage of the characteristics of industrial complexes adjacent to large-scale residential spaces, creation of a space for consumer culture contents in cooperation with the private sector and, finally, creation of a place for young people and citizens to settle in an industrial complex were suggested.

Namdong Industrial Complex, the first start of this project, announced a concrete realization plan to prepare a unique space for each central axis and each district with three axes and five districts by establishing spaces (points) for rest, shopping, and experiences centered on location competitiveness, specialized industrial culture, and citizens and workers, connecting each target area with a road (line), and introducing the concept of points, lines, and planes that expand to the central axis (plane) in the end.

In particular, in A zone, where the brand experience space is planned, an international cultural plaza will be created to transform it into a space for communication and understanding with foreigners working in the Namdong Industrial Complex.

B zone, connected to the Seunggicheon Pedestrian Bridge leading to Yeonsu-gu, is specialized as a space for start-ups and education, and C zone, a transportation hub including Hogupo Station, allows young people to find rest and cultural and artistic spaces as well as residential functions.

D zone is going to transform into an ecological cultural space where citizens and workers can heal from the bleak image of an industrial complex, and E zone, where furniture complexes are densely populated, will be presented as a convergence cultural space related to wood.

Mayor Park Namchoon said, “The industrial and cultural space redevelopment project is a project that opens the industrial complex to young people and citizens while maintaining the unique functions and roles of the industrial complex, and the participation and effort of companies is urgently needed. We will do our best to communicate and cooperate more for this purpose.”

On the other hand, many companies such as JPS Cosmetics, Infeso, and Samsung Industrial attended offline and online(YouTube) to celebrate the first step of the industrial complex leap forward.
