Incheon City Urges Adherence to Preventive Measures and Vaccination Against Japanese Encephalitis During Summer
Incheon Metropolitan City has urged its citizens to adhere to preventive measures against mosquito bites and to get vaccinated following the national alert for Japanese encephalitis issued by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on July 25.
Infections typically present with mild symptoms such as fever and headache. However, it can occasionally progress to more severe conditions like encephalitis, which may present with seizures, neck stiffness, and convulsions. In severe cases, the disease has a mortality rate of 20-30%.
An official from Incheon City stated, “Given the ongoing extreme heatwave and increased outdoor activities during the vacation season, it is important to use mosquito repellent to avoid mosquito bites and for those eligible, to get vaccinated according to the schedule.”
Incheon Enhances Food Safety Measures for Summer with Special Hygiene Inspections
Incheon City is implementing special hygiene inspections for 527 small-scale food establishments to ensure safe food handling during the hot and humid summer months.
According to the city, these inspections will be conducted until August 19th in order to enhance food safety management.
An official from Incheon City stated, "We will continue to improve hygiene standards at small food establishments through ongoing inspections and guidance, striving to create a safer food distribution environment for our citizens."
Incheon Foundation For Arts & Culture and Incheon Cultural & Arts Center Sign MOU to Boost Local Performing Arts
The Incheon Foundation for Arts & Culture and the Incheon Cultural & Arts Center have signed a MOU to enhance local performing arts.
This agreement focuses on collaborating on Incheon Foundation For Arts & Culture’s "Yogi-Jogi Concert" and the Incheon Cultural & Arts Center’s "Intermittent Fasting Concert (Gan.Dan.Con)."
Under the MOU, the outdoor plaza at the Incheon Cultural Arts Center will host the "Gan.Dan.Con X Yogi-Jogi Concert" from September 2 to 7, featuring a total of nine performances.
An official from the Incheon Foundation for Arts & Culture stated, “As we move from the sweltering summer into the refreshing autumn breeze, we will strive to present a richer array of performances for our citizens.”
Incheon City Successfully Concludes Youth Reporter Workshop
Incheon Metropolitan City successfully hosted the 24th Youth Reporter Workshop for the youth web magazine "MOO" from August 5th to 6th. The event took place at the Incheon Youth Training Center.
During the workshop, the youth reporters participated in the "Etiquette Academy," a youth leadership development program in collaboration with the city’s youth training center. The program offered a variety of experiential activities, including traditional archery, survival swimming, tea ceremony, and stargazing.
An Incheon City official stated, “We will continue to do our best to provide diverse opportunities for our youth.”
