Expansion of Incheon’s Public Late-Night Pharmacies: 31 to 34 Locations
Incheon City announced plans to expand the number of public late-night pharmacies from 31 to 34 starting next year. Excluding Ganghwa-gun and Ongjin-gun, the city will operate 20 pharmacies open year-round and 14 on a rotating schedule across eight districts.
Incheon City, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, will allocate a total project budget of 1.13 billion won, providing subsidies of 40,000 won per hour to support the operation of these pharmacies.
Incheon to Launch a New Medical Ship in May
Incheon City announced that the construction of a new medical ship, which has been under construction since 2021 to replace the current one, will be completed in April and set to sail in May. According to the city, the Incheon 531 medical ship, built in 1999, has been providing medical services to island residents in Ongjin-gun for over 25 years.
Due to the aging of the vessel, there have been limitations in providing high-quality medical services. In response, Incheon City has allocated 12.6 billion won for the construction of the new medical ship.
Starting in May, the new ship will replace the current one and provide mobile medical services to six districts in Ongjin-gun, operating for 2 nights and 3 days each week, making 44 visits per year.
Repatriate Literature Award Ceremony Held by the Office of Overseas Koreans
On the 11 of December, The Overseas Koreans Agency held the 26th Overseas Koreans Literature Awards at the Overseas Koreans Welcome Center in Songdo, Incheon.
The Awarding ceremony honored 13 winners in poetry, short stories, and essays/memoirs.
Since 1999, the Overseas Koreans Literature Awards have supported the literary creativity of 7 million overseas Koreans, showcasing outstanding works that reflect Korean identity.
Incheon and Gyeonggi Launch Initiative for World’s Top Bio Cluster
Incheon City announced that it has launched a promotion team in collaboration with Gyeonggi-do to establish the world’s leading bio-specialized cluster.
The team was formed following the government's designation of Incheon and Siheung in Gyeonggi-do as a national advanced strategic industry cluster in June. The aim is to enhance competitiveness in the advanced bioindustry sector.
Incheon is recognized as a global hub for biopharmaceutical companies, with several world-renowned firms already based there, solidifying its position as a competitive global production base. Siheung in Gyeonggi-do is also home to the Seoul National University’s Siheung Campus, a new Seoul National University Hospital and a dental hospital are planned for construction.
