Incheon Prepares 2nd Urban Rail Network Plan with 7 Lines


Incheon City has prepared the second phase of its urban rail network plan and held a public hearing.

The plan includes seven routes, such as the Incheon Circular Line 3, Songdo Tram, Bupyeong-Yeonan Pier Line, and Yeongjong Tram.

Additionally, the city proposed two candidate routes for future review, including the Juan-Yeonsu Line and the expansion of the Maglev Train.




Experience Korean Culture at Incheon Airport: Traditional Culture Centers Open in Terminal 2


Traditional culture centers at Incheon International Airport, the gateway to Korea, have reopened after renovations.

The National Heritage Promotion Agency announced the opening of two new Korean Traditional Culture Centers inside Terminal 2.

Located near Gates 274 and 225 in the duty-free area, the centers reopened after nearly two years.

To celebrate the opening, exhibitions featuring traditional crafts are being showcased at both centers.





Incheon Jung-gu Installs Road Heating Systems at 12 Icy Spots


Incheon Jung-gu has installed road heating systems at 12 steep roads prone to freezing.

The district spent 2.5 billion KRW, including 1 billion KRW in national funds, to install 1.4 km of heating systems on roads such as Gaehang-ro and Yulmok-ro.

These systems work by detecting snow through temperature sensors, which then activate heat from cables installed under the roads.

From 2022 to 2023, the district also installed similar systems on five other roads, including Donghwa Village Road and Hongyemun-ro.






Incheon Education Office to Subsidize Commute Tolls for Teachers in Yeongjong Island Starting Next Year


The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced plans to subsidize toll fees for teachers commuting to and from Yeongjong Island starting next year.

Daily toll support includes up to 11,000 KRW for Incheon Bridge (round trip), 6,400 KRW for the upper road of Yeongjong Bridge, and 3,800 KRW for the lower road.

Eligible teachers include those commuting from Incheon to schools on Yeongjong Island or from Yeongjong Island to schools in Incheon. Teachers already receiving toll discounts from the city will not qualify.

This policy was added through a local ordinance amendment this year, and toll support will officially begin in February 2025.
