Incheon Introduces AI-Based Signal Optimization to Ease Traffic Congestion
Incheon City announced improvements to traffic flow on 10 major arterial roads through the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI)-based signal optimization, a key technology in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
Signal optimization adjusts traffic light cycles at intersections to facilitate smoother movement for both vehicles and pedestrians. By analyzing traffic volume, time, and road conditions, the system reduces congestion and improves travel speed through advanced operational strategies.
The city plans to expand AI signal optimization to eight additional major roads, including Geomdan-ro, in 2025.
Incheon Enhances Coastal Access by Removing Military Fence Barriers
Incheon City will improve public access to coastal areas by removing military boundary fences, enhancing connectivity and recreational opportunities.
Starting next month, the city will commence dismantling military fences in the Oryu-dong Anam Retention Basin area of Seo-gu.
This project aims to boost access to coastal spaces, develop recreational zones at Jeongseojin, and establish pedestrian and bicycle pathways connecting Seo-gu and Gimpo.
The city expects the removal initiative to provide residents with better coastal access and a more pleasant urban environment.
Incheon Hosts Special Food Sale Event for 2025 Lunar New Year
To celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year, Incheon Metropolitan City will hold a special sale event featuring excellent local foods.
This event will take place on January 16-17 from 9 AM to 6 PM at the city hall building.
With 22 companies participating, visitors can purchase products like rice cakes, kimchi, sauces, and side dishes at prices 20-30% lower than usual.
In addition, 5% of the proceeds will be donated to support less privileged members of the community.
Incheon National University to Maintain Tuition Rates for 2025; Inha University May Increase Fees
While several major private universities in Seoul are moving to raise their tuition fees this year, Incheon National University has opted to freeze its fees.
According to Incheon National University, the university's Tuition Review Committee has decided to freeze this year's tuition fees at last year's rates.
The university explained that the decision was made to reduce the financial strain on students and parents given the current economic difficulties.
