Incheon City Offers Up to KRW 4.8 Million in Youth Rent Support
Incheon City announced it is recruiting applicants for the second round of its Youth Rent Support Program, which provides monthly rent assistance of 200,000 KRW for up to 24 months, totaling a maximum 4.8 million KRW. Applications will be accepted until next month on the 25th.
Since its launch in 2022, the program has supported 7,769 young residents. It will continue through 2027 and is open to young people aged 19 to 39 living independently from their parents without owning a home.
Applications can be submitted online through Bokjiro (for ages 19-34) or the Incheon Youth Portal (for ages 35-39).
AI Signal Technology Helps Ease Incheon’s Traffic Congestion
Incheon City reported on the 12th that applying artificial intelligence (AI)-based signal optimization technology has improved traffic flow and reduced congestion.
Since 2023, the city and the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency have used traffic data collected from the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) to apply AI signal optimization at 10 major road sections.
This technology adjusts traffic signal cycles to make it easier for vehicles and pedestrians to move through intersections. As a result, travel speed has increased, generating an estimated 9.89 billion KRW in economic benefits annually.
Incheon to Remove Military Fences, Improving Public Access to Coastal Areas
Incheon City will soon begin removing military boundary fences, greatly improving public access to coastal areas.
Starting next month, the city will dismantle fences near the Anam Retention Basin in Oryu-dong, Seo-gu. The project follows a 2023 agreement with the 17th Infantry Division to remove military barriers along the coastline.
The initiative aims to enhance access to coastal spaces, create a recreation area at Jeongseojin, and establish pedestrian and bicycle pathways connecting Seo-gu and Gimpo.
KRW 14.8 Billion to Expand Public Parking in Incheon’s Older Districts
Incheon City is increasing its investment to ease parking shortages in older neighborhoods, allocati 14.8 billion KRW for public parking expansion this year — double last year’s budget.
The city also plans to add an additional budget of abo 13 billion KRW, significantly increasing funding for parking projects compared to last year.
By county and district, new parking spaces will include 396 in Ongjin, 266 in Michuhol, 256 in Yeonsu, 190 in Ganghwa, 199 in Namdong, 141 in Gyeyang, 79 in Dong, and 20 in Bupyeong.
