Incheon Deokjeokdo Fishing Park Project Speeds Up
The fishing park project in the waters off Incheon, which had been delayed due to safety concerns, is now moving forward with revised facility designs.
Ongjin-gun announced that it will invest 4.5 billion KRW to construct a 1,164㎡ fishing park near Jinri Port on Deokjeokdo Island, accommodating up to 200 anglers simultaneously. The construction method has been changed for enhanced stability.
The project is set to begin in May and is expected to be completed by February next year.
An Ongjin-gun official stated,
"Although the project faced delays due to various issues, we anticipate that the offshore fishing park will greatly contribute to the revitalization of the local economy."
Art Center Incheon Presents ‘Tchaikovsky: Immortal Melodies’
Art Center Incheon’s signature classical music program, the ‘Composer Series,’ will continue in 2025, focusing on the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, one of the greatest Romantic composers.
Titled ‘2025 Composer Series: Tchaikovsky,’ the program will feature four concerts, conducted by Hong Seok-won and performed by the KBS Symphony Orchestra. Renowned soloists from Korea and abroad will join the performances, offering a profound and emotional musical experience.
Over 20,000 Birds, Including Endangered Species, Observed at Yeongjong Mudflat
The Incheon Green Union reported that 23,026 birds from 60 species were observed in the Yeongjong Mudflat between March and December last year.
The organization has called for the designation of Yeongjong Mudflat as a Wetland Protection Area to safeguard bird habitats.
An Incheon Green Union official emphasized, "With more than 20,000 birds recorded, Yeongjong Mudflat meets the criteria for a Ramsar Wetland designation. Authorities must establish a systematic plan to protect the endangered species and ensure their habitat is well-managed."
Incheon Office of Education Holds Youth Sleep Health Promotion Ceremony
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education held a Youth Sleep Health Promotion Ceremony on March 24, in celebration of World Sleep Day, to raise awareness of sleep issues among teenagers and explore solutions.
Under the slogan "Healthy Sleep, Happy School Life!", the event was attended by over 100 participants, including school nurses, parents, and public health support groups.
The program featured a relay campaign, a sleep health proclamation ceremony, expert lectures, and hands-on sleep hygiene education sessions.
