Incheon Expands University-Led Startup Platform for Youth Entrepreneurs and Pushes to Establish a Startup Fund
In a move to invigorate youth entrepreneurship, Incheon is expanding its university-led startup platforms and plans to establish a dedicated fund to support young entrepreneurs.
This year, the city will expand the Incheon University Alliance Startup Academy to include 13 universities and around 200 participants.
The fund is designed to help early-stage youth entrepreneurs—who often face challenges securing private investment—run their businesses with greater stability, while also supporting tech-driven startups in scaling up into innovative enterprises.
IFEZ to Revise Land Use Plan for Advanced Industry Cluster in Songdo
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ) has announced plans to revise the land use plan for the advanced industry cluster in Zone 11 of Songdo International City.
Under the new proposal, roads surrounding blocks Ki17 and Ki18 will be removed, and the area will be consolidated into a single industrial site spanning approximately 187,830 square meters.
An official from IFEZ stated that, following consultations with relevant agencies, the revised development plan for Songdo is expected to be finalized and officially announced later this month.
Hwadojin Festival in Incheon Postponed to September Due to Early Presidential Election
Incheon’s Dong-gu District Office has announced that the 36th Hwadojin Festival, originally scheduled for June 16th to 18th, will be postponed to September 5th to 7th in light of the early presidential election set for June.
According to the Public Official Election Act, heads of local governments are prohibited from holding activities that could influence the election—such as business briefings, public hearings, meetings with interest groups, or senior citizen events—within 60 days prior to the election.
Following the government's decision to hold an early presidential election on June 3rd, many local governments have begun postponing or canceling festivals and other community events initially planned during that period.
Incheon Seo-gu Opens Online Platform to Gather Public Opinions on District Name Change
Incheon Seo-gu District has announced that it will extend the public opinion collection period on the district's potential name change until the 30th of this month. To make participation more accessible, an online survey platform will also be launched.
Following the administrative reorganization that will separate Seo-gu from the newly established Geomdan-gu, residents of Seo-gu can submit their opinions by visiting their local community service centers and filling out a printed survey form.
Online submissions will be available starting April 14th via a dedicated survey page on the district’s official website.
To encourage broader participation, the district plans to actively promote the initiative through its website, local apartment bulletin boards, and other communication channels.
