Incheon Signs MOU with Dalian, China to Boost Cruise Tourism
On May 18, Incheon Metropolitan City participated in the 34th Acacia Flower Viewing Festival held in Dalian, China, and signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the city of Dalian to promote the cruise industry.
The agreement aims to strengthen cruise marketing through cooperation between Incheon and Dalian. By doing so, the two cities hope to attract more cruise tourists and boost their local economies.
Under this MOU, both cities will provide administrative and marketing support to attract cruise routes between Incheon and Dalian. They will also explore ways to open competitive cruise lines and promote long-term cooperation.
Incheon to Host the 45th Craft Exhibition
Incheon Metropolitan City announced it will hold the 45th Incheon Craft Exhibition to preserve traditional craft culture and boost the craft industry.
Hosted by the city and organized by the Design Support Center of Incheon Technopark, the event aims to discover outstanding traditional crafts and support their commercialization.
Anyone wishing to participate can submit their works online from May 19 to June 4.
<11th Incheon International Choral Festival> Calls for Local Choirs
The Incheon City Choir is now accepting applications from local choirs to perform in the 11th Incheon International Choral Festival, which will be held this year. Applications will be accepted until June 27.
Eligible choirs must be based in Incheon, have more than 30 active members, and have been formed for at least two years. Applicants must download the application form from the Incheon Culture & Arts Center website by June 13 and submit it via email (thanks.mjkim@gmail.com) along with a performance video from the last two years.
Selected choirs will perform two free-choice songs and join the final highlight performance—a combined choir conducted by Yoon Eui-Joong, Artistic Director of the Incheon City Choir.
“2025 Yogi-Jogi Concert” Begins Across Incheon
The “2025 Yogi-Jogi Concert,” organized by Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Cultural Foundation, began in May at various locations across Incheon.
The Yogi-Jogi Concert is a traveling music performance program that brings live music to everyday places. It first launched in 2024 and was met with great enthusiasm.
The concert kicked off in the second week of May with successful performances at outdoor venues such as the Incheon Culture & Arts Center, Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlet, Hyoseong Library, and Sangsang Platform.
During the first half of the year, concerts will continue every Tuesday and Thursday through the end of June at the outdoor plaza of the Incheon Culture & Arts Center. Additional performances will also take place at libraries across the city, including Bupyeong Library and Seo-gu Children’s Library.
Incheon Launches Integrated Design Project for 168 Islands
Incheon City will carry out an integrated design and pilot branding project for its island regions.
The project aims to enhance the appeal of Incheon’s beautiful islands and strengthen their competitiveness by developing a regional brand and addressing issues like depopulation and aging.
The key goal is to link all 168 islands in Incheon into one unified regional hub. By doing so, the city hopes to shift from “isolated islands” to “connected islands” by improving inter-island ties, discovering unique island brands, and establishing a sustainable design management system.
Incheon Celebrates World Day for Cultural Diversity
On May 17, Incheon City hosted the 18th World Day for Cultural Diversity celebration at Aetdeul Square in front of City Hall, with over 2,000 people participating.
The World Day was established as a national observance in 2007 to promote understanding and coexistence among people from different cultural backgrounds.
This year’s event highlighted Incheon’s growing role as a multicultural society. It marked an important step toward building a more inclusive and communicative community where various cultures coexist.
Incheon Holds Youth Month Celebration in May
Incheon Metropolitan City held the “2025 Youth Month Celebration” on May 17 at the main conference hall of City Hall. The event was a great success.
Held in honor of Youth Month, the event aimed to boost pride among young people and provide real motivation for planning their futures. Around 250 youth and youth leaders attended.
A city official stated that Incheon is committed to creating an environment where young people are respected and can grow with confidence and independence.
Incheon Expands Use of Cooking Robots in School Meals
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education is expanding the use of robotic systems to improve school meal preparation.
Recently, cooking robot systems were installed at three schools: Incheon Nonhyeon Middle School, Bugwang High School, and Garim High School.
These upgraded systems offer improved hygiene, safety, and efficiency compared to previous models. They are designed with advanced technology, making them ideal for maintaining a safe and sanitary cooking environment.
