IFEZ Launches 2nd Global Honorary Reporter Corps
The Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) announced that it held a launch ceremony for the 2nd Global Honorary Reporter Corps on May 26 at G-Tower in Songdo and officially began activities.
As part of its promotional efforts using social media and new media, the first term of the reporter corps was formed in 2024, and the second term has now been selected and launched.
A total of 10 members—four Korean and six international participants—were selected based on their ability to operate active personal media channels like Instagram and write at least one article per month.
Until the end of this year, the reporters will cover IFEZ events and various field activities, write articles, and share content on their personal social media channels to promote IFEZ both domestically and internationally.
Incheon Wins Economic and Cultural Award at Local Government AI Innovation Awards
The City of Incheon announced that it received the Economic and Cultural Award at the 1st Local Government AI Innovation Awards held at the Korea Press Center on May 26. The award was presented by the CEO of Aju Business Daily.
The event was co-hosted by Aju Business Daily, AJP, and ABC, with support from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the National Assembly’s Public Administration and Security Committee. It recognizes outstanding cases of AI-based innovation across public safety, economy and culture, social welfare, and public administration.
Incheon was recognized for successfully establishing a marine environmental management system using smart drone technology.
Incheon to Build Nation’s First 3cm-Resolution 3D Map Using Drones
The City of Incheon announced that it will become the first local government in Korea to launch a project to build a 3cm-resolution 3D model using drones.
Unlike previous methods using aircraft or satellite imagery, this project will rely solely on drone data, enabling significantly higher resolution and the ability to quickly update specific areas when needed.
The project is scheduled for completion by November 2025, and Incheon aims to offer the nation’s most advanced 3D mapping service, competitive even with private platforms such as Google and Naver.
“Facing Myself” Exhibition Opens at City Hall Station’s Open Museum
The Incheon Metropolitan City Museum announced that it is hosting a special exhibition titled Facing Myself at the “Open Museum” located in City Hall Station on Subway Line 1, from May 27 to June 9.
The Open Museum has been operated since 2020 as part of a cooperation agreement with Incheon Transit Corporation, offering citizens a variety of historical and cultural content.
The exhibition is free of charge and open during subway operation hours. The venue is located on Basement Level 3 near Exits 1 and 9 of City Hall Station.
Smart Bus Shelters Now Operating in Songdo
IFEZ has announced the installation and operation of “smart shelters” at four bus stops in Songdo International City.
These shelters combine advanced technology with transit infrastructure and are equipped with air purifiers, heating and cooling systems, mobile charging stations, and emergency call buttons.
IFEZ selected bus stops with high boarding and transfer demand and sidewalks over 2 meters wide, starting from August last year.
Incheon Launches Food Poisoning Prevention Campaign in Elementary Schools
Incheon Metropolitan City has launched a focused food poisoning prevention campaign at 15 elementary schools.
The campaign, running through November, promotes six key hygiene guidelines and emergency response measures to prevent foodborne illness.
In collaboration with the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education, the city aims to raise awareness in schools where group food poisoning risks are higher.
The initiative is expected to help students practice food safety habits in daily life and contribute to a safer school environment.
Incheon Students Win 65 Medals at National Youth Sports Games
A total of 765 student athletes from Incheon participated in 37 events at the 54th National Youth Sports Games and brought home 65 medals.
According to the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education, the team won 18 gold medals and competed in the event held in Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam-do, from May 24 to 27.
Incheon dispatched athletes for 34 sports and participated in the four-day competition held across the Gimhae area.
Incheon Election Commission Chair Inspects Presidential Ballot Printing Site
Kim Gui-ok, Chair of the Incheon Election Commission, visited the ballot printing facility in Namdong-gu yesterday to inspect the printing process for the 21st presidential election.
During the visit, Chair Kim reviewed details such as candidate numbers and names, markings for withdrawals, quantity control, and quality inspection procedures. She also checked the security protocols for storage and delivery after printing.
“Each ballot represents the will of the people,” Kim stated, emphasizing the need for accuracy and security until election day.
