Incheon Metropolitan City has announced that it will officially resume its “Hands-On City Tour” program on June 4, following a temporary suspension due to the Public Official Election Act.Since its launch in 2012, the program has welcomed over 47,000 participants and has become one of Incheon’s signature civic engagement initiatives. It offers visits to key city project sites as well as cultural and environmental facilities, helping residents gain a deeper understanding of municipal affairs.The program is open free of charge to anyone interested in city administration, including students in grade four or higher, adult residents, groups, and even visitors from other regions. For groups of 20 or more, trained supporters accompany the tour, offering guidance and insights throughout the experience.
Incheon will hold a public lecture to help citizens prevent smartphone addiction
In response to growing concerns over smartphone overuse in today’s digital society, the City of Incheon is preparing a special healing session that combines a cultural performance with a lecture by an expert on addiction.Scheduled for June 12 at the Dalnuri Theater in Bupyeong Art Center, the lecture will be held under the theme “Smartphones and Me: Finding the Right Balance.”The event will explore how excessive smartphone use can affect brain development and provide an opportunity for participants to reflect on their own habits and digital dependency in everyday life.

The Incheon Metropolitan City Museum will launch a special lecture series titled “Global Humanities Journeys at the Museum,” starting June 20 and running every Friday until July 11 from 2 to 4 p.m.The program will feature some of Korea’s leading humanities scholars, known for guiding cultural journeys abroad, as they share enriching perspectives and stories with the audience.Any citizen interested in the humanities is welcome to attend, and all lectures are offered free of charge.
Incheon will host a traditional rice planting experience at Yeonhui Park on May 29
Incheon’s Geyang Park Office will host a traditional rice planting event on May 29 from 10 a.m. to noon, taking place at the wetland rice field in Yeonhui Park.Open to the public, the event gives city residents a chance to try their hand at planting rice seedlings using age-old farming methods, offering a rare opportunity to experience agriculture firsthand in an urban setting.The rice grown through the event will be harvested in the fall and donated to local social welfare organizations. A traditional autumn harvest experience is also being planned for later this year.
Ganghwa Astronomy and Science Center will host special solar observation programs during solar maximum
Incheon’s Ganghwa Astronomy and Science Center will offer special observation programs during this year’s solar maximum, a peak in solar activity that occurs every 11 years.
Starting next month, the center will host daytime observation sessions on election day, Memorial Day, and every Saturday.
Visitors will have the chance to observe sunspots and solar prominences through high-powered telescopes.

Bupyeong District is now accepting applications for the 2025 youth singing and dance competitions
The Bupyeong Youth Center in Incheon is accepting applications for the 2025 Bupyeong Youth Festival until July 11.
The festival includes a singing contest and a dance competition for youth.
The event will be held on September 6 at the Fountain Park in Samsan-dong.
Anyone between the ages of 11 and 19 across the country is welcome to participate.
Applicants must film a video of their performance and submit it along with the application form by email before the deadline.
