Incheon Signs Agreement for Integrated Support of Cancer Survivors
The City of Incheon has signed a business agreement with 10 local medical institutions and organizations, including the Incheon Cancer Survivors Integrated Support Center, to provide integrated support for cancer survivors.
Through this partnership, the city will promote joint projects to enhance survivors’ self-management capabilities and help them reintegrate into society.
Each organization will refer cancer survivors in need of continued care to the support center, which will offer various programs and counseling services.
Incheon Takes Action to Protect Farmers from Heat-Related Illnesses
To prevent heat-related illnesses among farmers during the summer heatwave season, the City of Incheon is emphasizing various safety precautions.
The Incheon Agricultural Technology Center advises that proper hydration and rest are essential during farm work, and body temperature should be lowered immediately if symptoms occur.
With the increasing number of extreme heat days, exposure in indoor and outdoor workspaces can pose serious health risks.
Symptoms of heat-related illness include dizziness, headaches, nausea, vomiting, muscle cramps, and fatigue. If such symptoms arise, emergency services should be contacted immediately, and body temperature should be lowered using water or ice.
Incheon Youth Showcase Artistic Passion on Theater Stage
A stage has been prepared for Incheon youth to express their artistic talents.
The 29th Incheon Youth Theater Festival will open on June 5 at Haksan Small Theater. Seven high schools in Incheon will compete for a spot to represent the city at the 29th National Youth Theater Festival in Miryang this August.
The festival runs from June 5 to 17, and youth theater workshops will be held on June 9 and 11 to provide students with basic training in voice, lighting, and sound.
Yeonsu District Launches Vaccine Safety Platform Pilot
Yeonsu District in Incheon has become the first in the city to operate a ‘Safe Vaccination Integrated Platform’ project since March, aimed at enhancing public safety during infectious disease outbreaks.
According to the district, the platform automatically provides personalized vaccine information to recipients through their smartphones using a comprehensive system for vaccine safety, tracking, and prediction.
The project is expected to minimize potential on-site errors by informing both nurses and recipients of vaccine details in advance, while also improving efficiency through real-time inventory management.
Reading Camp Combining Books and AI Gains Popularity Among Gifted Students
The Incheon Science and Information Gifted Education Center, under the Incheon AI Convergence Education Center, held a reading camp for 5th-grade gifted students under the theme ‘Climate, Earth, and Us.’
The camp combined AI and reading activities, based on the philosophy of creative convergence education.
Before the camp, students used an online collaboration platform to read designated books and write daily one-sentence reviews to share their thoughts.
An official from the center stated, “This program was meaningful in that it combined reading, AI, and environmental education to foster creativity and action. We will continue to offer such programs to nurture future convergence talent.”
Yeonsu District Library to Hold ‘Heehee Nacnac Book Concert’
Yeonsu District Library will hold the 28th Heehee Nacnac Book Concert for local residents on June 19 at 10 a.m. at the Songdo 4-dong Community Center auditorium.
The event will begin with a performance by the gayageum ensemble ‘Geumi’ and feature a guest expert to help parents better understand and empathize with their children’s emotions.
Any interested Yeonsu residents can participate, and online registration opens at 10 a.m. on June 5 through the district library’s website.
Michuhol-gu Recruits Participants for Alley Storytelling Program ‘In Between the Streets’
The Michuhol Haksan Culture Center announced that it is recruiting participants for the citizen author program ‘In Between the Streets’ – Stories of Neighbors Living in the Gaps of the City, run in collaboration with the Incheon Southern Office of Education.
This program is part of the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education’s ‘Read, Walk, Write’ initiative. It is designed and operated by the culture center and supported by the local education office.
Participants will explore local alleys, record seasonal changes, and express their reflections through writing, drawing, or photography. The goal is to help citizens rediscover familiar neighborhoods and grow as community authors.
The eight-session program runs through October and is open to all Incheon citizens.
Outdoor Stage at Incheon Culture & Arts Center Offers June Performances
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the Incheon Culture & Arts Center’s outdoor stage series <Hwang.Geum.To.Kki> will feature a variety of performances throughout June.
Short for ‘Golden Friday and Talented Saturday Stage,’ <Hwang.Geum.To.Kki> is one of Incheon’s signature open-air performance events, free from dress codes and ticket fees.
A total of eight performances are scheduled for June, and the series is held every Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. from April to July. All performances are free and open to audiences of all ages.
