21st Presidential Election Held Today
The 21st presidential election began at 6 a.m. today at 14,295 polling stations nationwide.
Early voting, held on February 29 and March 1, recorded a turnout of 34.74%, the second highest in history, while overseas voting, held from February 20 to 25, reached an all-time high of 79.5%.
Today’s voting will continue until 8 p.m., after which the counting will begin, combining results from overseas voters (205,268) and early voters (15,423,607) to determine the winner.
The National Election Commission expects a clear picture of the winner to emerge around midnight.
AI Safety Technology Introduced at Incheon Port Lock Gates to Prevent Ship Collisions
The Incheon Port Authority (IPA) has announced the introduction of AI-based safety technology to ensure the safe navigation of vessels using the port’s lock gates.
IPA is conducting pilot tests of an AI-based “navigation guidance system” that precisely measures the distance between the lock’s gate and approaching vessels.
In September, the authority plans to install infrared and radar sensors at the lock entrance to prevent collision accidents.

According to Ongjin-gun, five villages—one each on Daecheongdo, Socheongdo, and Yeonpyeongdo, and two on Deokjeokdo—have been selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s “Island Specialization Project.”
The project aims to create sustainable communities in depopulating island areas by supporting resident-led initiatives that generate revenue and reinvest it into the local economy.
Selected villages can receive up to 5 billion won over nine years through the four-phase project.
Incheon Accelerates Global Expansion of Local SMEs
The City of Incheon is ramping up support for local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) aiming to enter the global market.
According to the city, a variety of programs will be implemented to support overseas expansion, including export credit and insurance support, specialized training, and international strategy consulting.
This year, Incheon plans to provide total marketing support for the products of 40 companies to enhance their global competitiveness.
Incheon Launches 3·6·9 Walking Challenge to Promote Public Health
Incheon is promoting public health and walking culture through its third “3·6·9 Walking Challenge.”
From June 4 to 24, the city will run the challenge as part of its “Healthy City Incheon” initiative, encouraging residents to lead active and healthy lives.

To prevent heat-related illnesses among farmers during the summer heatwave season, the City of Incheon is emphasizing various safety precautions.
The Incheon Agricultural Technology Center advises that proper hydration and rest are essential during farm work, and body temperature should be lowered immediately if symptoms occur.
With the increasing number of extreme heat days, exposure in indoor and outdoor workspaces can pose serious health risks.
Symptoms of heat-related illness include dizziness, headaches, nausea, vomiting, muscle cramps, and fatigue. If such symptoms arise, emergency services should be contacted immediately, and body temperature should be lowered using water or ice.
Incheon Youth Showcase Artistic Passion on Theater Stage
A stage has been prepared for Incheon youth to express their artistic talents.
The 29th Incheon Youth Theater Festival will open on June 5 at Haksan Small Theater. Seven high schools in Incheon will compete for a spot to represent the city at the 29th National Youth Theater Festival in Miryang this August.
The festival runs from June 5 to 17, and youth theater workshops will be held on June 9 and 11 to provide students with basic training in voice, lighting, and sound.
