Incheon City and environmental groups inspected single-use items in public offices — sharp drop in usage


Incheon City announced that it carried out a joint inspection with environmental groups on the use of single-use items at 35 public institutions in the city during the first half of 2025.

The inspection was conducted to check the effectiveness of the city’s policy to reduce single-use items in public institutions and to build a monitoring system. It was carried out from June 2 to June 13, and again on July 3, using a random sample survey targeting 35 public institutions.

On average, 5.55% of new cups were brought in across all offices. Incheon City offices showed 0%, and district offices had an average of 6.11%. 

This is a 16.56 percentage point drop from last year’s average of 22.11%, showing a clear decrease in single-use cups in public buildings.





Incheon wins Grand Prize in the 2025 Social i‑Awards for metropolitan governments


Incheon City received the Grand Prize in the metropolitan government category at the “Social i‑Awards 2025,” a Korean award for social media services. 

This award is hosted by the Korean Internet Professional Association under the Ministry of Science and ICT, and supported by the Korea Internet & Security Agency.

It recognizes the best internet services in blogs, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other social platforms for branding, information, and digital video content.

Incheon won top honors in content, service quality, and brand performance, earning the highest award.






Mayor Yoo Jeong‑bok expands market for Incheon’s agricultural and processed foods in Toronto, Canada


On the 14th local time, Incheon City held a successful “Incheon Agricultural & Seafood Food Toronto Landing” event at Galleria Supermarket Yorkmills in Toronto, Canada. 

The event featured 39 items including Ganghwa Island rice, red ginseng, mixed grains, and solar salt. They also gave away 500 g packs of Ganghwa Island rice and Incheon City eco-bags. 

Since October 2022, Incheon, Ganghwa-gun, and Korea Food Trading have exported Ganghwa Island rice. In June 2024, Incheon opened its first permanent overseas outlet in the Yorkmills store. They have now expanded to carry 30 tons of Ganghwa Island rice plus 35 product lines. 

Thanks to strong customer satisfaction and support from Korean residents, Incheon City will expand permanent outlets in 2025 to include Yorkmills, Oakville, and Thornhill locations—three in total.





Incheon provides heatwave relief items to 100 North Korean defectors’ elderly households


Incheon City will give 100 electric fans and 100 cooling cushions to 100 households of vulnerable elderly North Korean defectors, helping them stay healthy this summer. 

This program is a joint effort by Incheon City and the Incheon Hana Center to protect elderly defectors from heat illnesses caused by climate change and to support stable settlement. 

Relief items include fans, cooling cushions, and heatwave safety guide sheets. From tomorrow (16th) to July 31, these items will be delivered directly to each household by the Hana Center along with heatwave safety guidelines.






Incheon Pushes ‘Island Branding’ for 10 Islands


To support coastal islands facing population decline and fewer visitors, Incheon City is launching a full-scale “Island Branding” project.

By October, 10 inhabited islands will be selected for the creation of a unified design system that reflects each island’s unique identity.

The project aims to visually express each island’s history, nature, and culture, turning them into more attractive tourism destinations with individual brands.






Ongjin-gun Sets Up Task Force for Consumer Coupon Program


Ongjin-gun in Incheon is preparing for the launch of a “Consumer Coupon for Daily Life Recovery” program, which starts on July 21.

To manage the program effectively, Ongjin-gun has formed a task force with 15 members across 3 teams, led by the vice governor and overseen by the Director of the Economic and Industrial Bureau.

In this program, residents will receive coupons worth between 150,000 and  450,000, depending on the phase.





Michuhol-gu Installs 99 New Idling Restriction Signs


Michuhol-gu in Incheon has updated and added a total of 99 signs to inform residents about new car idling rules.

Signs at 75 existing restricted zones were replaced, and 24 newly designated areas also received signs.

Starting in the second half of the year, Michuhol-gu plans to run awareness campaigns and inspections together to help residents understand the new rules and encourage voluntary compliance.
