Incheon Metropolitan City completes a survey of public sculptures
Incheon Metropolitan City announced it has finished a comprehensive survey of public sculptures across the city to improve urban aesthetics and ensure ongoing maintenance of public artworks. Conducted jointly since May by the city, its 10 districts, and affiliated public institutions, the review covered sculpture installations, removals, current conditions, and maintenance status.
The survey counted a total of 613 public artworks—comprising 166 symbolic sculptures, 168 environmental installations, 221 ornamental pieces, and 58 miscellaneous works—marking an increase of 76 items compared to last year.
Incheon opens additional subsidy applications for scrapping old diesel vehicles starting July 21
Incheon Metropolitan City will open another round of applications for its early diesel vehicle scrappage subsidy program from July 21 until the budget is exhausted.
With a budget of approximately ₩10.4 billion, the program will support scrapping around 3,400 aging diesel vehicles and construction machinery.
Applications can be submitted on a first-come, first-served basis through the vehicle emissions online system or via registered mail.
Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra opens applications for violin master class
The Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra is calling for participants in its violin master class, part of an educational program to foster classical talent in the region.
Applications will be accepted by email from August 4 to August 8.
The free, four-hour individual lessons will be held without piano accompaniment, and all selected participants must complete the full program.
Incheon invites families for summer “Unification Culture Experience”
To mark the summer vacation, Incheon Metropolitan City announced it will run “Meeting Unification in Incheon”, a family-friendly cultural experience program at the Incheon Unification Plus Center.
The event offers a variety of interactive activities designed to raise awareness of peace and reunification.
All programs are free, and registration opens at 10 a.m. on July 14 via the center’s official blog.
Incheon plans to double train cars on Metro Line 2 during rush hours by 2030
To ease morning and evening congestion on Metro Line 2, Incheon City has begun preparing to expand train operations on Metro Line 2 by increasing the current two-car sets to four-car sets.
As part of the plan, the city will carry out track relocations, reinforce platform safety equipment, and upgrade the public announcement system in stations.
Incheon Office of Education launches summer safety experience program
From July 28 to August 14, the Incheon Office of Education will run a safety experience program at the Student Safety Experience Center for students, parents, and city residents.
Through hands-on and immersive experiences, participants can learn how to respond to crisis situations.
Applications open July 14 at 10 a.m. and close August 12 at 5 p.m., and registration is available via the center’s website or the Incheon Office of Education’s integrated reservation system.
A city education official said, “Tomorrow’s safety starts with today’s experience,” adding that they aim to provide more opportunities for citizens to learn crisis response skills.
Incheon brings together local brands and vintage sellers at Je-mulpo Wave Market on July 26 and 27
Incheon Metropolitan City and Incheon Tourism Organization will hold the second Je-mulpo Wave Market from July 26 to 27 at the Wave Hall at Sangsang Platform.
A total of 90 booths—including 70 local brands from Incheon and prominent domestic vintage sellers—will gather to revitalize the original downtown area.
The event aims to support local creators and small businesses by helping them develop their brands and expand sales channels.
