Incheon Issues Malaria Alert for Ganghwa-gun


The City of Incheon has issued a malaria alert for Ganghwa-gun as of July 16, launching an emergency response to prevent the further spread of the disease.

This move follows a nationwide malaria advisory issued by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on June 20. The alert was prompted by a recent cluster of malaria cases reported in Ganghwa.

Malaria is transmitted by the bite of female Anopheles mosquitoes. After an incubation period of 7 to 30 days, symptoms may include fever, chills, sweating, headache, muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.






Incheon Prepares to Launch "Livelihood Recovery Coupons" Program


The City of Incheon is fully prepared to roll out its "Livelihood Recovery Coupons" program, which begins on July 21.

The initiative, approved by the National Assembly on July 4, is jointly funded by the central government, Incheon City, and local districts. It aims to provide consumer coupons to all citizens as part of economic recovery efforts.

Applications will be accepted both online and offline from July 21 to September 12. During the first week, applications will follow a staggered schedule based on the final digit of the applicant’s birth year. Starting July 26, anyone can apply regardless of birth year.





Incheon Launches Traditional Market Stamp Tour with Discounts and Local Flavor


The City of Incheon and the Incheon Tourism Organization have announced the launch of the “Mobile Stamp Tour of Traditional Markets,” set to run in two phases from July 18 to November 30.

The event is part of the city’s broader campaign to promote traditional markets and boost the local economy under the “Premium Traditional Market Development Initiative.”

The tour will be held in different regions across two rounds, with extended participation periods to allow more citizens and tourists to join in.

Participants can earn discount coupons by collecting digital stamps at 16 designated markets. These coupons can be used for on-site purchases at participating vendors, offering real savings while supporting small businesses.






Korea Immigration History Museum Explores Hawaiian Immigration Through New Program


The Korea Immigration History Museum, a branch of the Incheon Metropolitan City Museum, has launched a new weekend education program titled “Aloha, Hawaii” for families with elementary school children.

The program offers a look into the lives of Korean immigrants who left for Hawaii starting in 1902. It also reflects on the emotional struggles of those who longed for their homeland but were unable to return—many of whom played a role in Korea’s independence movement.

Aloha, Hawaii will run from July 26 to October 25, taking place on the fourth Saturday of each month, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.






Seo-gu Warns Residents About Scam Texts Ahead of Relief Coupon Applications


Incheon’s Seo-gu urges caution against suspicious text messages with unclear web links ahead of the first round of applications for government’s Livelihood Recovery consumption Coupons, opening July 21.

According to the Seo-gu office, official notices from the government, credit card companies, or local currency providers do not include any internet links in their text messages regarding the coupon program.

Residents receiving messages with links or app installation prompts should not open them and delete immediately. Suspicious messages can be reported by calling 118, the national cybersecurity hotline.






Bupyeong Becomes First in Incheon to Launch Pet Training Program for Pet Care Professionals


Bupyeong-gu has become the first district in Incheon to launch a training program for pet care professionals.

The initiative is part of a social contribution project with Shinhan Bank’s Bupyeong branch and the Department of Animal Health at Kyungin Women’s University and aims to support job placement.

The curriculum includes five areas: pet grooming, dog training, understanding cats, animal rehabilitation, and dog fitness.

Starting August 4, participants will take part in an eight-week course—four weeks of theory, followed by four weeks of hands-on training in relevant industries.
