Incheon City Makes All-Out Effort to Revitalize Local Construction Industry
Incheon Metropolitan City announced today that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at City Hall with local public institutions to boost the local construction industry.
The MOU aims to expand the participation of local construction companies in large-scale construction projects carried out in Incheon, secure a stable volume of construction work, and strengthen the institutional foundation to revitalize the local construction industry.
The main points of the agreement include: ▲active cooperation from ordering agencies to boost the local construction industry ▲expanding opportunities for participation by local construction companies ▲increasing local-restriction competitive bidding and mandatory joint contracts with local companies.
Partnership for Senior Jobs Creation… Strengthening Response to Super-Aged Society
Incheon Metropolitan City signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today at City Hall to respond to a super-aged society, create jobs for the elderly, and support vulnerable groups in the community.
The signing ceremony was attended by Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeongbok and officials from Hana Financial Group, who discussed ways to establish public-private cooperation methods and strengthen community welfare in preparation for the super-aging era.
Mayor Yoo said, “I hope this agreement will serve as a stepping stone for expanding seniors’ participation in society and growing together with the local community.”
Citizen Participation-Based, Citizen-Centered Local Living Area Plan Proposal
The Incheon Institute announced the results of its study, Establishment and Operation Plan of Incheon’s Living Area Plan, which was carried out in 2025 as a policy research project.
Based on this report, Incheon Metropolitan City plans to systematically establish a living area plan aimed at creating urban spaces that citizens can truly experience in their daily lives.
The policy research report serves as a foundation for developing space strategies closely connected to citizens’ everyday lives in response to changes in urban conditions. Its goal is to create an effective planning system that reflects Incheon’s regional characteristics and administrative structure.
Incheon Youth Future Center Supports Over 920 Young People in One Year
The Incheon Youth Future Center, under the Incheon Social Service Agency, announced that over the past year, more than 920 young people in family caregiving roles and those living in isolation have visited the center.
The Incheon Youth Future Center operates as part of a pilot program by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to support young family caregivers and isolated young people.
Young family caregivers whose income is below 100% of the median income are eligible for a one-time self-care support payment of 2 million.
For isolated young people, the program focuses on helping them recover their daily lives.
Incheon Dong-gu Provides Sun Umbrellas and Handheld Fans to Heat-Vulnerable Groups
Incheon’s Dong-gu has provided heat prevention supplies to protect vulnerable groups, including the elderly and people with disabilities.
According to the Dong-gu, sun umbrellas and handheld fans were distributed through five local welfare facilities, including the Dong-gu Senior Welfare Center and the Dong-gu Hanmaeum Welfare Center.
Along with providing the items, Dong-gu promoted summer health guidelines through the welfare facilities, such as avoiding outdoor activities during midday heat, drinking water regularly, locating cooling centers, and knowing how to respond in emergencies.
Incheon Special Judicial Police Focus on Cracking Down on Pharmaceutical Wholesalers
The Incheon Metropolitan City Special Judicial Police announced that from July 21 to August 1, they carried out an intensive crackdown on illegal distribution and sales of pharmaceuticals by local pharmaceutical wholesalers.
As a result, they found seven violations; Three cases of using stored pharmaceuticals for purposes other than supplying them, Two cases of not having the quality control manager check when shipping out pharmaceuticals, One case of transporting pharmaceuticals without attaching the required vehicle sign, One case of failing to keep transport records for shipped pharmaceuticals.
Incheon said that those involved in these seven violations will be booked, investigated, and sent to the prosecution, and that the relevant gun or gu offices will be notified so they can take administrative action.
Incheon Recruits Trainees for Second-Half Urban Agriculture Basic Course
The Incheon Agricultural Technology Center announced that it will start recruiting trainees for the “2025 Second-Half Urban Agriculture Basic Course” for Incheon citizens from August 18.
The basic course is for citizens who are new to urban farming. It includes both theory and practice in topics such as garden design, growing vegetables and fruit, pest control, using soil and fertilizer, and eco-friendly farming. Graduates of the course will be eligible to apply for the advanced Expert Training Course.
This course will run every Tuesday from September 9 to November 4 at the Incheon Agricultural Technology Center. Recruitment will start on August 18 through the Incheon City online reservation website, with 30 spots available on a first-come, first-served basis.
