Incheon Metropolitan City announced that the “APEC 2025 Public-Private Dialogue,” hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is being held for two days, yesterday and today, at Songdo Convensia.
About 400 people from the public sector, private sector, and academia are taking part in the dialogue. Experts from international organizations such as the OECD and the World Bank are also participating to share various opinions and policies on population changes and cooperation in AI. They aim to achieve meaningful results in cooperation.
Through this event, Incheon plans to share examples of sustainable, citizen-centered city policies and to further strengthen policy ties among APEC member economies and cooperation between cities.
Incheon Special Judicial Police Focus on Cracking Down on Pharmaceutical Wholesalers
The Incheon Metropolitan City Special Judicial Police announced that from July 21 to August 1, they carried out an intensive crackdown on illegal distribution and sales of pharmaceuticals by local pharmaceutical wholesalers.
As a result, they found seven violations; Three cases of using stored pharmaceuticals for purposes other than supplying them, Two cases of not having the quality control manager check when shipping out pharmaceuticals, One case of transporting pharmaceuticals without attaching the required vehicle sign, One case of failing to keep transport records for shipped pharmaceuticals.
Incheon said that those involved in these seven violations will be booked, investigated, and sent to the prosecution, and that the relevant gun or gu offices will be notified so they can take administrative action.
Incheon Recruits Trainees for Second-Half Urban Agriculture Basic Course
The Incheon Agricultural Technology Center announced that it will start recruiting trainees for the “2025 Second-Half Urban Agriculture Basic Course” for Incheon citizens from August 18.
The basic course is for citizens who are new to urban farming. It includes both theory and practice in topics such as garden design, growing vegetables and fruit, pest control, using soil and fertilizer, and eco-friendly farming. Graduates of the course will be eligible to apply for the advanced Expert Training Course.
This course will run every Tuesday from September 9 to November 4 at the Incheon Agricultural Technology Center. Recruitment will start on August 18 through the Incheon City online reservation website, with 30 spots available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Incheon Opens 2025 Urban Redevelopment Citizen Academy
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it held the opening ceremony for the “2025 Incheon Urban Redevelopment Citizen Academy Basic Course” yesterday.
Domestic experts in the urban redevelopment field will take part in this program, covering laws, policies, case studies, and practical work in a comprehensive way. Students will be able to learn systematically about the entire process and latest trends in urban redevelopment.
Incheon will also run an advanced course from September 5 to 19 to further strengthen the skills of those who complete the basic course and professionals working in the field.
IFEZ Holds Public Hearing for Landscape Plan Update
IFEZ announced that it will hold a public hearing at 3 p.m. today in the auditorium on the 3rd floor of G Tower in Songdo International City, as part of the process of updating the landscape plan, which is done every five years.
The hearing will include an explanation of the proposed updated plan for the Incheon Free Economic Zone landscape, and will collect various opinions from residents and related experts.
Residents can give their opinions in person at the hearing or submit them in writing by 6 p.m. on the 19th.
Incheon Requests Government to Ease ‘Daytime Only’ Passenger Ship Rule for the Five West Sea Islands
Incheon is working on a plan to address frequent cancellations of passenger ships between the Five West Sea Islands and Incheon Port, caused by fog and other bad weather.
The city announced that it has requested the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to relax the sailing time restrictions for passenger ships serving Baengnyeong-do, Daecheong-do, Socheong-do, Dae Yeonpyeong-do, and So Yeonpyeong-do.
Currently, the Five West Sea Islands are the only area in the country where passenger ships are banned from sailing at night. Incheon expects that if the night sailing ban is lifted, ships could also depart in the afternoon, which would greatly reduce the number of cancellations.
Incheon School Safety Mutual Aid Association Holds ‘School Safety ON’ Contest
The Incheon School Safety Mutual Aid Association is holding the “School Safety ON Contest” for students in schools under the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education, with submissions accepted until September 23.
The contest, supported by the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education, aims to raise students’ awareness of school safety and allow them to express their ideas freely. It is organized in three categories: posters, short webtoons, and UCC videos.
This year’s theme focuses on school safety accidents and school violence incidents. Awards include the Incheon Superintendent of Education Award, among others, and an award ceremony and exhibition will also be held.
