Incheon City to Conduct Air Raid Drill: “Evacuate When Sirens Sound at 2 p.m. on August 20”
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it will conduct a civil defense drill against air raids across the city for 20 minutes starting at 2 p.m. on August 20.
At exactly 2 p.m., when the air raid siren sounds, radio broadcasts (97.3 MHz) and safety alert messages will be sent, and citizens should recognize it as a drill and quickly evacuate to the nearest civil defense shelter or underground space.
To reduce inconvenience, there will be no traffic control during the drill, and major facilities such as hospitals, clinics, subways, railways, airplanes, and ships will operate normally.
Incheon City Pushes for Revitalization of Old Downtown Through Reorganization of 11 District Unit Plans Around Incheon-daero
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it is seeking ways to revitalize the old downtown by reorganizing 11 district unit plan areas around Incheon-daero and establishing landscape and detailed plans, in line with the start of construction on the entire Incheon-daero normalization project.
The basic direction of the plan is to turn Incheon-daero from a space of division into a space of connection within the city.
To support 21 small-scale housing redevelopment projects under way in the plan areas, the current criteria for applying maximum floor area ratio will be changed to an incentive method based on public contribution rates.
Cheongna Lake Library Operates ‘Book-Link Sign Language’ Program for Senior Citizens with Hearing Impairments
Cheongna Lake Library, a branch of Incheon Michuhol Library, announced that it will operate the reading culture program “Book-Link Sign Language” for senior citizens with hearing impairments until November 3.
“Book-Link Sign Language” is a project selected for the “2025 Reading Culture Program for Persons with Disabilities” hosted by the National Library for the Disabled, and will be operated in cooperation with the Incheon Metropolitan Association of the Korea Association of the Deaf.
This 11-session program is aimed at hearing-impaired persons aged 60 and above, and includes reading activities using sign language and visual materials, along with cultural programs that allow participants to experience various arts and local culture.
Art Center Incheon to Open Regular Fall Semester Courses of Arts Education Academy
Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority(IFEZ) announced that starting in September it will begin the “Arts Education Academy Fall Semester Regular Courses.”
The Arts Education Academy, which has recorded full enrollment every semester, has become a program for citizens to enjoy arts and humanities in daily life.
All courses are held once a week for 10 to 12 weeks, and registration is on a first-come basis starting today at 10 a.m. through the Art Center Incheon website.
Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education Announces Open Competition for “2026 Education Treasury”
Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced through its website an open competition for the designation of its new treasury bank, as the current contract period is ending.
On August 20, the office will hold a briefing session for financial institutions wishing to apply, then allow a document review period, and accept proposals on August 27 and 28.
Eligibility is limited to financial institutions under Article 38 of the Local Finance Act.
The selected institution will handle education treasury operations as the sole designated bank from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2029.
Incheon Education Office K-Culture Delegation Promotes Korean Culture in Vietnam
The K-Culture Delegation organized by Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education is carrying out youth international exchange activities in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, until August 22.
The program promotes Korean culture and introduces students to local culture through mutual exchange, helping participants understand the history and culture of both countries.
The activities are expected to support students in growing as global citizens and to strengthen cultural understanding between Korea and Vietnam.
Michuhol-gu Selects Five Best Restaurants of the Year
Incheon’s Michuhol-gu announced that five restaurants were selected as the best in the “2025 Michuhol Tasty Restaurant Contest,” held to vitalize the dining industry and improve food culture.
The contest was prepared to discover excellent local restaurants, promote them to residents and tourists, and spread a healthy and quality food culture.
The five selected restaurants will join the “Michuhol Food Culture Festival” on September 20 at the East Gate Plaza of Munhak Stadium, where they will offer tastings and presentations.
