Water Supply Cut on Soijak Island Due to Water Treatment Facility Breakdown – 14 Tons of Bottled Water Delivered
Ongjin-gun in Incheon provided 14 tons of bottled water to Soijak Island due to a breakdown at the local water treatment facility, which caused a water outage on August 18. Ongjin-gun requested emergency support from the Incheon Metropolitan City Waterworks Business Headquarters Southeastern Waterworks Office.
Navy soldiers stationed on the island also helped deliver the water to residents.
Incheon Launches 2025 Cadastral Survey Inspection
The Incheon Metropolitan Government has launched its 2025 Cadastral Survey Guidance and Inspection which will run from August 20 to September 18. The purpose of the inspection is to improve both the accuracy and reliability of land survey work and to check whether survey companies are being operated properly. Inspectors will conduct sample reviews of cadastral survey results from the past year. They will examine 360 cases out of 1,012 completed surveys, along with 400 additional cases selected by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport from other regions. The inspection will also check whether survey projects are properly managed and whether
companies comply with registration standards.
Stage on Screen: Masterpieces in Opera, Ballet, and Musicals
In early September, the Incheon Culture and Arts Center will host the 2025 Stage on Screen program, presenting filmed performances of world-class opera, ballet, and musicals. Since its launch in 2013, the program has become a signature event, offering audiences a chance to enjoy high-quality productions from around the globe.
An official said the screenings are meant to give citizens a moment of relaxation at the end of the summer.
Incheon Takes Stronger Measures to Prevent Abuse of People with Disabilities
The Incheon Metropolitan City Public Agency for Social Service announced new measures to strengthen abuse prevention in its facilities for people with disabilities. The initiative comes after a recent suspected case at a shelter for children with disabilities. Training will focus on improving staff members’ professional skills and human rights awareness, with special attention to the fact that people with disabilities spend most of their daily lives in these facilities.
Seo-gu to Impose Fines for Blocking Eco-Friendly Vehicle Charging Stations
From September 8th, Seo-gu will begin imposing immediate fines, without warning, on those obstructing eco-friendly vehicle charging stations.
Fines are 100,000 won for non-electric or non-plug-in hybrid cars parked over one minute, 100,000 won for overstaying charging time—one hour at fast chargers, 14 hours at slow chargers—and 200,000 won for deliberately damaging charging equipment or markings.
Violations can be reported through the Safety e-Report application within 48 hours, with at least two photos showing the vehicle and its license plate, as well as the location.
Incheon Central Library Accepts Participants for 2025 Everyday Science Classroom
Incheon Central Library is accepting applications for the 2025 Everyday Science Classroom for first to third graders. The program runs from August 29th to September 19th. Children will learn about force distribution and apply it to design landmarks in Incheon. Tuition is free. Materials cost 32,000 won per student, waived for those eligible for social integration support.
Incheon Education Office and Saeul Foundation of Culture Hosts 40th Writing Contest
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education and the Saeul Foundation of Culture will host the 40th Saeul Writing Contest on September 6th at Incheon Football Stadium. The event is part of the “Read, Walk, and Write” festival, allowing students and citizens to showcase creativity. Ten activity booths—including traditional games, reading and writing experiences, and cultural programs—will operate starting at 1 p.m. at the north plaza of the stadium
