Incheon to Operate 890 Shelters in Preparation for Heavy Snow and Cold Waves
Incheon announced comprehensive countermeasures to prepare for winter disasters such as heavy snowfall and severe cold.
The city has designated the period from November 15 to March 15 next year as the Winter Natural Disaster Response Period and will intensively manage 84 facilities vulnerable to heavy snow, 118 sections prone to snow accumulation, and 113 sections susceptible to freezing.
A total of 890 cold-wave shelters will be designated, and information on their operation status will be provided through the National Disaster Safety Portal and the Safe Stepping Stone mobile app.
2025 Incheon Art Show to Open on November 20
The Incheon Art Show Organizing Committee announced that the Incheon Art Show 2025 (INAS 2025) will be held from November 20 to 23 at Exhibition Halls 2, 3, and 4 of Songdo Convensia.
Marking its fifth edition since its inaugural event in 2021, the Incheon Art Show has grown into an art festival enjoyed by citizens and a globally recognized art event under the slogan “Shall We Hang a Painting Too?”
The organizing committee expects more than 70,000 visitors to attend this year’s event.
Incheon Tourism Organization Expects Boost to Local Economy Through Recruitment of Creative Tourism Startups
Incheon and the Incheon Tourism Organization announced that they are recruiting six new companies to move into the Incheon Tourism Business Support Center in 2026.
The recruitment targets tourism and MICE companies established within the past seven years, with a focus on selecting businesses that have creative business models utilizing local tourism resources.
Companies selected for residency will receive a range of benefits, including subsidized rent and maintenance fees, access to office space and meeting rooms at the center, educational and management consulting support, as well as networking and promotional assistance.
Jung-gu Opens Hands-On ‘Children’s Traffic Park’ in Yeongjong Anyanggol
A “Children’s Traffic Park,” where children can learn traffic safety through play, has opened inside Anyanggol Park (1740-19, Unnam-dong) in Yeongjong Sky City, Jung-gu, Incheon.
The “Anyanggol Children’s Traffic Park” is a newly created experiential safety education space designed to help children experience traffic situations in an environment similar to real roads, cultivate safety awareness, and prevent accidents.
With a total project cost of 1.5 billion won, the park is equipped with various experiential facilities that reflect actual traffic systems—such as traffic lights, crosswalks, and a roundabout—along with a bicycle practice area, children’s playground equipment, rest shelters, and outdoor exercise machines.
Incheon’s Ongjin-gun Deploys Wildlife Control Teams to Islands to Prevent Damage
Ongjin-gun in Incheon announced that, from the 17th until the end of February next year, it will dispatch wildlife control teams to each township to capture wild boars and harmful wild birds.
The primary purpose of the deployment is to capture wild boars, which have continued to appear since the summer. With the harvest season underway, the county will also work to deter harmful wild birds—such as crows—that damage crops, particularly in the Baengnyeong and Daecheong areas.
Ongjin-gun plans to analyze capture data and consider introducing additional equipment such as new trapping cages and installations. The county emphasized that it will prioritize resident safety and the protection of agricultural products in its response efforts.
Incheon’s Yeonsu-gu to Pilot Public Buses in Songdo and Expand Parking in Original Downtown Areas
Yeonsu-gu in Incheon announced that it will introduce public buses to transportation-vulnerable areas such as Songdo-dong and expand public parking facilities by 413 spaces in original downtown where parking shortages are severe.
The district unveiled its “Public Bus and Transportation Infrastructure Improvement Project” and will hold resident briefings from the 12th to the 14th to gather public feedback.
To address the chronic parking shortage in the old downtown area, the district plans to secure an additional 413 parking spaces at the Yeonsu Station South Public Parking Lot, the Songdo Station Three-way Intersection Public Parking Lot, and the Matgoeul-gil Parking Tower.
Incheon’s Gyeyang-gu to Open ‘2025 Christmas Festa’ on the 20th
Incheon’s Gyeyang-gu announced that it will host the “2025 Christmas Festa” at the Gyeyang Araon area to celebrate the upcoming year-end season.
The lighting ceremony marking the start of the event will take place on the 20th at 5:30 p.m. on the northern stage of Gyeyang Araon.
The Gyeyang Araon Tree Village will operate until the end of January next year, offering citizens a variety of attractions and photo zones connected to the “Street of Lights,” providing a festive and enjoyable experience.
Incheon Seogu Library to Offer Special Year-End Programs
The Seogu Library of the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it will begin accepting registrations on a first-come, first-served basis for its “December Year-End Special Programs” starting at 10 a.m. on the 17th.
To celebrate the year’s end, the library has prepared a variety of programs for local residents. For children, the library will offer several classes for students in grades 3 to 6, including “Making a Christmas Snow Globe,” “Christmas Tart Making,” and “Reading with Doggy Friends.”
All programs are free of charge and will run from November 22 to December 20.
