Since 2024, the city has made waste reduction a core goal, starting with public institutions and expanding to everyday life.
By leading in the public sector and encouraging citizen participation, Incheon aims to cut household waste at its source and ensure a reliable waste management system after the ban takes effect.
DoranDoran Early Childhood Forest Experience Center Opens to the Public in Incheon Grand Park Wetlands
The Incheon Grand Park Office has opened the DoranDoran Early Childhood Forest Experience Center to all citizens. The aim is to provide more opportunities for ecological learning and raise environmental awareness.
The center was first established in 1998 as a natural learning area and became an early childhood forest experience center in 2019. Until now, it mainly hosted programs for young children.
Visitors can now come freely without prior reservations, making it an open space for families and nature enthusiasts.

The Incheon Fisheries Technology Support Center held the “Incheon Night for Returning Fishers” on December 17 at The Party One in Yeonsu-gu. The event brought together people preparing to return to fishing or rural life, as well as those already settled, to share experiences and information.
Participants said the programs at the Incheon Fishermen School were helpful, and overall, attendees expressed high satisfaction with the education they received.
Incheon Cultural Foundation Distributes Five Audiobooks Selected in Support Program
The Incheon Cultural Foundation has completed and released five works chosen in its 2025 Audiobook Production and Distribution Support Project. They are now available on major audiobook platforms.
The project goes beyond creation support. It promotes distribution and wider access, helping strengthen the local arts ecosystem.
Each work was produced into roughly one-hour audiobooks, with authors participating in creative planning and attending recording sessions with voice actors to ensure high-quality results.
Incheon Metropolitan City Office Of Education Opens Global Read Walk Write Center In Mongolia
The Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education announced that its officials attended the opening ceremony of a Global “Read, Walk, Write” Center at No. 4 Public School in Uvs Province, Mongolia.
The center was established at the request of the Uvs Provincial Department of Education to introduce Incheon’s “Read, Walk, Write” education policy and its digital-based creative convergence education model.
This marks the first overseas case of the program, with cooperation gaining momentum after the governor of Uvs Province and education officials visited Incheon earlier this year.
Over-Water Walkway Completed On Yeonpyeongdo, Expected To Become A Local Landmark
Ongjin-gun in Incheon announced that an over-water walkway has been completed on Yeonpyeongdo. A completion ceremony was held at the site on December 17.
Built at a cost of 3.75 billion won, the project features a 2-meter-wide walkway stretching 450 meters, along with two observation decks and nighttime landscape lighting.
The over-water walkway allows visitors to enjoy close views of the coastline and the island’s distinctive rock formations.
Car Ferry Pier Completed At Yonggipo Port On Baengnyeongdo
The Incheon Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries announced the completion of a car ferry pier at Yonggipo Port on Baengnyeongdo in Ongjin-gun.
The new pier can accommodate car ferries of up to 3,000 tons and includes a 160-meter-long mooring facility.
The project, launched in 2023 with a total investment of 17 billion won, is expected to improve port operations and help prevent safety accidents.
