Incheon City And Ghent University Sign MOU To Strengthen Marine Research And Talent Exchange
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding with Ghent University in Belgium on December 17.
The agreement aims to promote industrial cooperation and talent exchange through Ghent University’s main campus.
Under the MOU, the two sides will pursue comprehensive cooperation in education, research, and technology exchange in areas such as marine science, environmental research, and bio-convergence technology. The agreement also includes joint research projects and training programs aimed at fostering future talent.
Incheon To Implement Special Safety Measures During Year-End And New Year Holidays
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it will implement special safety measures in 11 areas during the year-end and New Year holiday period.
The city held a joint safety meeting with district offices, police, and fire authorities to strengthen crowd safety management.
Gyeyangsan has been designated as a priority safety management area and will be monitored in real time through the disaster control center and the integrated CCTV system, with immediate response measures in place.
Incheon Becomes First Local Government To Receive Approval For External Solar Power Projects
Incheon City has announced that it has secured registration approval for external solar power projects after receiving a favorable feasibility assessment from the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment’s 66th Emissions Certification Committee.
This marks the first case nationwide in which a local government has obtained approval for external solar power projects.
The approved projects include four initiatives that utilize renewable energy for electricity production, self-consumption, and heat and power usage within buildings. These projects are expected to contribute to significant greenhouse gas reduction.
Over-Water Walkway Completed On Yeonpyeongdo, Expected To Become A Local Landmark
Ongjin-gun in Incheon announced that an over-water walkway has been completed on Yeonpyeongdo. A completion ceremony was held at the site on December 17.
Built at a cost of 3.75 billion won, the project features a 2-meter-wide walkway stretching 450 meters, along with two observation decks and nighttime landscape lighting.
The over-water walkway allows visitors to enjoy close views of the coastline and the island’s distinctive rock formations.
Car Ferry Pier Completed At Yonggipo Port On Baengnyeongdo
The Incheon Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries announced the completion of a car ferry pier at Yonggipo Port on Baengnyeongdo in Ongjin-gun.
The new pier can accommodate car ferries of up to 3,000 tons and includes a 160-meter-long mooring facility.
The project, launched in 2023 with a total investment of 17 billion won, is expected to improve port operations and help prevent safety accidents.
AI-Based Evacuation Guidance System To Be Installed At 18 Incheon Subway Stations
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it will install an AI-based evacuation guidance system at 18 stations on Incheon Subway Line 1 by the end of this month.
In the event of a fire, the system will analyze conditions and calculate optimal evacuation routes, providing guidance through LED screens, lighting, and voice announcements.
The system was piloted at Incheon City Hall Station and Incheon Bus Terminal Station in 2023 and has since been expanded this year.
Seo-Gu In Incheon To Hold Year-End Sunset Event At Jeongseojin Square
Seo-gu in Incheon announced that it will hold a year-end sunset event on December 31 at Jeongseojin Square on Arabit Island.
Photo zones and food trucks will be operated around the Sunset Bell, with popera and busking performances also scheduled.
From December 24 through December 31, landscape lighting will be installed in the Jeongseojin area, along with exhibitions and experience programs at the Jeongseojin Art Cube.
