‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ to open Incheon Arts Center 2026 Season


Incheon Culture & Arts Center will open its 2026 season with the hit musical Mrs. Doubtfire. Starring top actors Hwang Jung-min, Jung Sung-hwa, and Jung Sang-hoon, the show runs from January 10 to 11. Based on the popular comedy film, the musical has enjoyed success on Broadway, the West End, and Korean stages.





Dong-gu Launches ‘Healthy Dong-gu 2026’ Initiative


Incheon’s Dong-gu District has announced the full launch of its Healthy Dong-gu 2026 project to improve residents’ health and quality of life. As of late 2025, nearly 29 percent of residents are aged 65 and older. With the growing aging population, healthcare challenges grow as the number of elderly people living alone and the burden of medical expenses increase. The district plans to expand effective public health policies, including nationally recognized oral health programs.







Hwadojin Ice Rink Offers Special Promotion for Year-of-the-Horse Visitors


Dong-gu District is offering a special buy 1 get 1 free admission ticket event at Hwadojin Ice Rink for visitors born in the Year of the Horse. The promotion runs from January 5 to 16 at the Hwadojin Ice Rink ticket booth, celebrating 2026, the Year of the Horse. Visitors born in the Year of the Horse will receive an additional free ticket upon ID verification with the purchase of one ticket. 





Inha University Files Complaint Against Hacker Group ‘Gunra’


Inha University has filed a criminal complaint against hacker group Gunra following a ransomware attack. The university confirmed signs of personal data leakage along with system disruptions. The University announced it has filed a complaint with the National Police Agency against the hacking group for violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. In the complaint, Inha University requested a swift and thorough investigation, citing illegal intrusion into its information network.






Ganghwa-gun Launches Study into Dasongcheon Water Pollution


Ganghwa County is launching a full investigation into the cause of a mass fish die-off in Dasongcheon Stream last December. The country will launch an epidemiological study based on the water quality analysis results from the Incheon Institute of Health & Environment to determine the exact cause of the accident, and implement measures to prevent recurrence. Water quality tests found total organic carbon levels exceeding the “very poor” threshold at three of six test sites. The county will invest 300 million won in a scientific investigation and prevention plan, scheduled to begin January 7.






Incheon Registers First Outstanding Architectural Assets


Incheon Metropolitan City has officially registered two buildings as its first Outstanding Architectural Assets. I-eum1977 was, a private residence located in Songhak-dong, Jung-gu, has been designated as the first asset. The building, completed in 1977, designed by renowned Korean architect Kim Swoo-geun. Meanwhile, Baeknyeon I-eum, an old shop located in Jung-gu District’s Chinatown area was designated as asset No. 2. The designations mark the first use of a system introduced under a 2015 ordinance to preserve and promote the city’s valuable architectural heritage.






Incheon to Unveil City Vision Video at CES 2026


Incheon Metropolitan City will unveil its city vision video, “To the Children of the Future,” for the first time at CES 2026. CES is the world’s largest IT and home appliance trade show, with this year’s event to be held in Las Vegas from January 6 to 9. The video’s main message is “Global Top 10 City Incheon,” highlighting Incheon’s long-term urban development goals focusing on the daily lives of future generations. The presentation will mark the first time a Korean local government presents a city vision video through an official CES exhibition hall.
