Incheon to accept proposals for disposable container reuse support project


Incheon Metropolitan City will accept proposals for a project to promote the reuse of disposable containers. The project aims to reduce single-use waste from delivery services, leisure and cultural activities and life. The city will focus on discovering and expanding citizen-participation resource circulation models. Creative ideas from the private sector will be encouraged. The application period runs through February 13. The total project budget is 350 million won.





Incheon carries out emergency culling at foot-and-mouth affected farms


Incheon Metropolitan City has begun emergency quarantine measures after Ganghwa-do confirmed foot-and-mouth disease at livestock farms. The city is working with the Central Disaster Management Headquarters to carry out emergency measures including movement restrictions, emergency culling, and vaccination. According to the city, a Korean beef and dairy cattle farm in Songhae-myeon tested positive on January 30. The city immediately shared the situation with districts and related agencies. Initial response teams were dispatched and control posts were set up at the farm. To prevent further spread, Incheon is conducting emergency vaccinations at all cloven-hoofed livestock farms. All vaccinations are scheduled to be completed by February 8.





Bill proposed for general hospital near Incheon Int’l Airport


A bill has been proposed to allow the construction of a general hospital near Incheon International Airport. The area currently lacks sufficient emergency medical infrastructure. People Power Party lawmaker Bae Jun-young said he introduced amendments to the Medical Service Act and the Incheon International Airport Corporation Act. The Medical Service Act amendment would allow the airport corporation to establish medical institutions. Currently, the corporation is excluded from entities eligible to open hospitals, and the revision would make it eligible to do so.





Environmental group calls for development project review over endangered frog habitat


Green Korea Incheon has called for a full review of the Samsan District 4 urban development project. The area in Bupyeong-gu is a known habitat of the endangered gold-spotted pond frog. The project plans to develop 703,694 square meters of rice paddies and wetlands into residential and commercial land. Completion is targeted for 2029. Based on surveys conducted last year, the group said the area may be home to thousands to tens of thousands of gold-spotted pond frogs. The species have been designated as endangered by the Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Environment, and they are also Incheon’s flagship species. They mainly inhabit wetlands formed in rice paddies.





International-standard RC car race track completed in Songdo


Korea’s first public RC car race track operated by a public agency has opened in Songdo International City. The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority said the track was built at Songdo Moonlight Festival Park. A total of 3.5 billion won was invested for the facility that covers an area of 20,000 square meters. The track was built as an on-road circuit and it meets international competition standards set by the International Federation of Model Auto Racing.





Incheon to hold integrated briefing on village community programs


Incheon Metropolitan City will hold an integrated briefing on village community programs. The event will take place on February 2 at the main lecture hall of Jemulpo Smart Town. The briefing introduces community project contests and key support policies run by the city and districts. It aims to expand citizen participation. This year, Incheon established its third basic plan for village community development, covering 2026 to 2030. The city set its vision as building communities that grow through autonomy and solidarity with citizens.





Michuhol-gu releases public parking video guide


The Michuhol-gu Facility Management Corporation has released a video guide for public parking lot use. The video aims to improve convenience and reduce confusion for users. It was planned to address repeated complaints and inquiries. Many stemmed from confusion between street parking and off-road parking lots. The video clearly explains usage procedures by parking type. It also covers fees and payment methods. The content is designed to be easy to understand from a citizen’s perspective.
