Incheon selected for Labor Ministry’s project on preventing industrial accidents
Incheon Metropolitan City has been selected for a national safety project led by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. The city secured 1.4 billion won in government funding for the project which targets blind spots in preventing serious industrial accidents. Incheon is one of eight local governments selected nationwide. The city plans to carry out nine detailed programs such as AI-based video analysis for workplace safety, confined-space entry training and education programs to prevent industrial accidents among foreign workers.
Incheon holds public call to discover pre-certified social enterprises
Incheon Metropolitan City will hold two public targeted calls for proposals to discover pre-certified social enterprises suited to local characteristics. The plan is in response to anticipated increase in designation demand following the resumption of financial support programs for social enterprises. The city aims to foster businesses based on community participation and focus on fostering social enterprises that actively use local resources and involve local residents. The first designation round will be announced in early March and finalized by late May. The second round will be announced in early August and finalized by late October.
Incheon to recruit apartment complexes for traveling small concert program
Incheon Metropolitan City is recruiting apartment complexes to participate in the “Traveling Small Concert” program. The program aims to expand cultural opportunities within residential communities. Four apartment complexes will be selected this year. Two concerts will be held in the first half of the year and two in the second half. The Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra and Incheon City Chorale will take part. The performances are designed to be easy and enjoyable for everyday audiences. Applications must be submitted by 6 p.m. on February 13th on the city’s apartment housing portal, “On-Apt.”
Preliminary administrative procedures for Incheon–Ansan expressway prolonged
Preliminary administrative procedures for the Incheon–Ansan Expressway are being prolonged. The expressway is currently the only section of the Metropolitan Area 2nd Ring Expressway’s 13 sections where construction has not yet begun. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Incheon Metropolitan City, the project has been divided into two sections with section one currently undergoing a feasibility reassessment by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The section had passed a preliminary feasibility study in 2018, but total project costs rose sharply due to route changes and inflation. As a result, it became subject to a new feasibility review. For section two, revised plans are being prepared by the city and the ministry. If a strategic environmental impact assessment is passed later this year, construction could begin as early as 2028.
Incheon to provide low interest rate loans to food sanitation businesses
Incheon Metropolitan City will launch the “2026 Food Promotion Fund Loan Project” to ease financial burdens caused by high interest rates and economic slowdown to food hygiene establishments. The fund provides loans at lower-than-market interest rates and supports facility improvements and hygiene upgrades. The total loan amount this year is 300 million won. Eligible businesses include food manufacturing, processing, and restaurant operators in Incheon Metropolitan City. Up to 20 million won is available for business development loans. Facility improvement loans of up to 200 million won are also available.
