Incheon to expand bus and train schedule for Lunar New Year holidays
Incheon Metropolitan City will implement special transportation measures for the Lunar New Year holiday period. The measures aim to improve travel convenience for people returning to their hometowns. The city has designated January 13 through 18 as a special transportation period, and will increase services on express and intercity buses, as well as subways. Express buses, which normally operate 89 vehicles on 106 trips per day, will be expanded to 97 vehicles and 114 trips. Intercity buses will also be reinforced, with nine additional buses added. A total of 225 buses will operate daily on 329 trips.
Incheon to conduct safety inspections at large retail facilities ahead of Lunar New Year
Incheon Metropolitan City will conduct safety inspections at large retail facilities ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays. The inspections target 63 large-scale facilities, including hypermarkets and shopping centers. The goal is to prevent fires and crowd-related accidents during the holiday period, and are designed to remove potential risks in advance. On-site inspections will be conducted at four locations. They include Inspire Resort, E-Mart Traders Songnim Branch, Lotte Mart Gyeyang Branch, and ZIZEL M Cheongna. Joint inspection teams will be formed with relevant agencies.
Incheon to support small businesses and financially vulnerable groups
Incheon Metropolitan City will begin full-scale support programs for small businesses and financially vulnerable residents. The programs will be mainly carried out by the Incheon Small Business Comprehensive Support Center with a total budget of 3.9 billion won, and they aim to respond to economic slowdown, high prices, and high interest rates. Support will cover the full business lifecycle, from start-up to growth, crisis response, and starting over. The plan also includes revitalizing local commercial areas and supporting small-scale manufacturers. Recovery support for financially vulnerable groups is also included. The city plans to strengthen on-site consulting and professional operations to increase policy awareness.
Food Industry Division newly established to boost local agri-food competitiveness
A new Food Industry Division has been established within Incheon’s Agriculture and Fisheries Food Bureau to respond proactively to changes in the agri-food environment and food demand. The new division is also expected to help expand eco-friendly agriculture, promote agri-food exports and widen sales channels for local agri-food products. In 2026, the city will significantly expand its eco-friendly agriculture infrastructure program. Support will cover production, processing, storage, and distribution in designated eco-friendly clusters. The project scale has more than tripled compared to last year. The city expects meaningful contributions to carbon reduction, environmental improvement, and farm income stability.
Incheon seeks operator for public–private delivery app partnership
Incheon Metropolitan City will recruit an operating agency for a public–private delivery app partnership. The initiative aims to ease the burden on small businesses facing high delivery platform fees by putting a cap on delivery brokerage fees at two percent or less. It will also be linked with the Incheon Love Gift Certificate, known as the Incheon e-eum card. The city expects the service to reduce management costs for small businesses and improve user convenience for residents.
Musical ‘Maybe Happy Ending’ to be staged in Incheon in March
The hit Korean original musical “Maybe Happy Ending” will be staged in Incheon this March. The performances are part of the musical’s 10th anniversary nationwide tour. Shows will be held on March 14 and 15 at the Incheon Arts Center, Grand Theater. The musical debuted in 2015 and quickly sold out during its tryout performances. It has since become Korea’s representative long-running creative musical. The Incheon production will be expanded to fit the large theater stage. A visual theme centered on an “old record” will be emphasized, with the staging highlighting the coexistence of futuristic emotion and nostalgic sentiment.
