Incheon recruits participants for fisheries manager development program
The Incheon Metropolitan City Fisheries Technology Support Center is recruiting participants for its fisheries manager development program. Applications will be accepted through February 27. The program aims to foster future fisheries professionals. Participants are classified as fisheries successors or advanced managers depending on their management experience or fisheries infrastructure ownership status. This year, the city plans to select 19 participants in total, including 16 successors and three advanced managers. Eligible fisheries successor applicants must be between 18 and under 50 years old. They must have completed or been exempted from military service and must have no prior fisheries experience or less than 10 years of experience.
Incheon Library installs automated equipment for improved accessibility
Incheon Metropolitan City’s Incheon Library has completed installation of automated accessibility equipment to improve access and convenience for visitors, including people with disabilities. The equipment has been installed at the main library and branch libraries. The library upgraded reading room environments based on accessibility standards to strengthen information access for people with disabilities. A smart shelf loan and return system was also introduced allowing books to be borrowed or returned simply by placing them on the shelf. The system is expected to greatly reduce inconvenience during use.
Children’s Zoo temporarily closed to prevent foot-and-mouth disease spread
The Incheon Grand Park Office has announced an emergency temporary closure of the children’s zoo. The decision follows an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Ganghwa-gun. The measure was taken due to concerns about possible spread to nearby areas, including Incheon. During the closure period, public access is completely restricted. Only zookeepers and management staff are allowed to enter to carry out health monitoring and disease prevention tasks. If no additional cases are confirmed in Incheon or nearby regions, reopening will be considered. The decision will be made in consultation with quarantine authorities.
Old fences removed, accessibility improved at 1883 Gaehangjang Plaza
Incheon Metropolitan City has completed environmental improvements around the 1883 Gaehangjang Plaza. A temporary pedestrian walkway has also been created, providing a more open environment for citizens in the area which was previously blocked by aging security fences and barriers. The fences, which previously obstructed views and harmed the urban landscape, have been replaced with low-height, open-style fencing, restoring visual openness to an area that had been disconnected for decades. Once administrative procedures are completed, construction of an access road will begin. When completed, the new route will directly connect the walkway to the plaza improving public accessibility significantly.
Food Industry Division newly established to boost local agri-food competitiveness
A new Food Industry Division has been established within Incheon’s Agriculture and Fisheries Food Bureau to respond proactively to changes in the agri-food environment and food demand. The new division is also expected to help expand eco-friendly agriculture, promote agri-food exports and widen sales channels for local agri-food products. In 2026, the city will significantly expand its eco-friendly agriculture infrastructure program. Support will cover production, processing, storage, and distribution in designated eco-friendly clusters. The project scale has more than tripled compared to last year. The city expects meaningful contributions to carbon reduction, environmental improvement, and farm income stability.
Incheon seeks operator for public–private delivery app partnership
Incheon Metropolitan City will recruit an operating agency for a public–private delivery app partnership. The initiative aims to ease the burden on small businesses facing high delivery platform fees by putting a cap on delivery brokerage fees at two percent or less. It will also be linked with the Incheon Love Gift Certificate, known as the Incheon e-eum card. The city expects the service to reduce management costs for small businesses and improve user convenience for residents.
