Hana Bank Opens ‘Global Culture Bank’ For Foreign Residents In Incheon
Hana Bank has opened the “Incheon Hana Global Culture Bank” center to support the independence and growth of foreign residents. The center is located on the second floor of the bank’s Namdong Industrial Complex Financial Center branch in Namdong-gu, Incheon. The center is a specialized space for foreign residents created through public-private cooperation between Hana Bank and Incheon Metropolitan City. Located near an industrial complex to improve accessibility for foreign workers, the center is also linked with a Sunday operating branch to enhance convenience for foreign customers who have difficulty visiting on weekdays. Hana Bank plans to operate programs at the Incheon Hana Global Culture Bank aimed at improving foreign residents’ financial literacy and practical skills, including financial fraud prevention education, digital finance training, and basic financial education.
Incheon Expands Support For Early-onset Dementia
Incheon Metropolitan City will continue full-scale operation of its customized support program for patients with early-onset dementia and their families in 2026. The initiative aims to assist patients’ recovery of daily life and social participation while easing caregiving burdens. As of 2023, the proportion of early-onset dementia patients in Incheon stands at 9.0 percent, higher than the national average of 6.7 percent. Early-onset dementia develops in people under 65 who are often economically and socially active, resulting not only in career disruption for patients but also significantly greater economic and emotional burdens on families compared to age-related dementia. Since 2020, Incheon has operated the nation’s only specialized facility dedicated to early-onset dementia, the “Brain Tok Tok Dementia Prevention School,” providing tailored support to patients and their families.
Incheon Provides Respite Support Program For Families Of Disabled
The “Incheon-Type Caregiver Respite Support” project has been operating in Incheon since 2016 to promote psychological stability and strengthen family functions of caregivers of persons with disabilities. The program supports families in relieving caregiving burdens and recharging through travel and leisure activities. It consists of two components: respite support for families of persons with disabilities and vehicle support for empathetic family travel. The respite support program provides either individual family travel expenses or group travel programs, while the vehicle support program offers free rental of specially equipped vehicles to enable safer and more convenient travel for persons with disabilities. In 2025, a total of 2,771 individuals or 634 families benefited from the programs, and the city plans to continue supporting approximately 3,000 individuals this year.
Korea Coast Guard To Open Special Archives In Second Half Of Year
A special archives facility to systematically preserve and manage records of the Korea Coast Guard will open in Incheon in the second half of this year. The facility, currently under construction in Namdong-gu, Incheon, will have one basement level and four above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 7,585 square meters. Completion is scheduled for next month, with the opening targeted for August. Of the 180,000 records held by the Korea Coast Guard and its affiliated agencies, 70,000 records that are more than 30 years old will be transferred and preserved at the special archives. The transferred materials include records from the Coast Guard’s inauguration ceremony held in Busan in December 1953 and investigation records related to major incidents such as the October 1993 Seohae Ferry disaster, which claimed 293 lives.
Incheon To Recruit 8th Class Of Incheon Return-to-fishing School In 2026
The Incheon Metropolitan City Fisheries Technology Support Center will accept applications for the 8th class of the Incheon Return-to-Fishing School. Applications will be open until March 27. The program is designed to support stable settlement in fishing villages for urban residents and others wishing to take up fishing, providing systematic education in fisheries theory as well as fishing vessel and aquaculture techniques. The 8th training course will run for five weeks from April 13 to May 15 and will be operated as a comprehensive program covering both fishing vessel fisheries and aquaculture. Starting this year, the city will also support 50 percent of tuition fees for graduates seeking licenses for Powered Watercraft Pilot or Small Construction Machinery Operation, helping prospective fishers build a practical foundation for starting a business and achieving stable settlement in fishing communities.
