Dong-gu Delivers Petition Supporting Maritime Court In Jemulpo-gu
Incheon’s Dong-gu has delivered a petition with signatures to the National Court Administration calling for the establishment of a Maritime International Commercial Court in Jemulpo-gu. A total of 28,303 residents, or about half of Dong-gu’s population, participated in the signature campaign. The district government is advocating for the maritime court to be located in Jemulpo-gu, a new district that will be created in July through the merger of Dong-gu and inland areas of Jung-gu. The district claims the court will help revitalize Jemulpo’s old downtown area and preserve the city’s historic port heritage.
2026 Korea Ramen Expo To Showcase Future Of K-Ramen Industry In Incheon
Korea’s only ramen industry fair will be held at Songdo Convensia from March 26th to 29th. The expo will highlight both the present and future of the ramen industry while showcasing a wide range of products. Participating brands include regionally themed ramen such as Ganghwa Rice Ramen from Incheon, Kkumdori Ramen from Daejeon, Pork Soup Ramen from Busan, Munddak Ramen from Jeju, Red Snow Crab Ramen from Sokcho, and Barley Ramen from Goseong. The 2026 Korea Ramen Expo will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and visitors can enter free of charge by registering in advance through the official website.
Incheon Startup Park Recruits Companies For TRYOUT
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced that it is recruiting companies to participate in TRYOUT, a public & private proof of concept project at Incheon Startup Park. The program will operate in two formats. There will be an “open innovation” model in which startups solve challenges faced by partner organizations, and a “general resource matching” model in which startups verify products and services using partners’ testing resources. A total of 47 startups will be selected and will receive funding averaging 30 million won, with up to 50 million won available per company. TRYOUT began in 2020 and has supported proof of concept projects for 320 startups through last year.
Incheon Port To Pilot Unmanned Patrol Robots In First For Korean Ports
In a first among Korean ports, unmanned patrol robots will be introduced at Incheon Port. According to the Incheon Port Authority (IPA), the agency plans to deploy two unmanned patrol robots in certain areas of Incheon’s inner port area. The pilot operations will begin in the 2nd half of this year. The initiative aims to improve management efficiency and eliminate security blind spots, marking the first attempt of its kind at a Korean port.
Incheon Welcomes Approval Of Seoul Subway Line 5 Extension
Incheon Metropolitan City has welcomed the final approval of the Seoul Subway Line 5 extension project connecting Gimpo and Geomdan. The project recently passed the preliminary feasibility study. The new line will extend for 25.8 kilometers starting from Banghwa in Seoul to Gimpo while passing through Geomdan in Incheon. The total project cost is estimated at 3.56 trillion won. Incheon has worked closely with Gimpo and the Metropolitan Transport Commission to help the project undergo review by the Finance Ministry’s Fiscal Project Evaluation Committee and pass the preliminary feasibility study. The city expects the extension to ease chronic traffic congestion in the Greater Seoul area’s northwestern region and significantly improve commuting conditions between Geomdan and Seoul.
Incheon Promotes Creative Convergence Education with GM Technical Center Korea
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education has signed a memorandum of understanding with GM Technical Center Korea to promote creative convergence education and expand science culture. The agreement aims to revitalize creative education in engineering and science through cooperation between a globally recognized company based in the region and educational institutions, while strengthening career education connected to the rapidly evolving future mobility industry. Under the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate in areas such as exchanging information and personnel to develop educational programs, operating joint projects to promote science culture, and building networks to expand creative convergence education.
