Jung-gu Reviews District Unit Plan For Undeveloped Areas On Yeongjong Island


Plans to develop Yeongjong Island’s undeveloped land through a district unit plan is currently under review, more than a decade after the area was removed from the Free Economic Zone. Incheon’s Jung-gu has announced that it is carrying out a basic planning project for urban development strategy targeting 21 square kilometers of undeveloped land in the Yeongjong and Yongyu areas. The planning project, costing 100 million won, was launched to find ways to utilize land that has remained undeveloped for a long period after being removed from the Free Economic Zone in 2011 due to development delays.





Emergency Economic Task Force Launched In Response To Middle East Situation


Incheon Metropolitan City will launch an Emergency Economic Task Force to respond to rising oil prices and instability in consumer prices caused by worsening conditions in the Middle East. Launched on March 12, the task force will be led by the administrative vice mayor and will consist of teams responsible for stabilizing consumer prices, stabilizing oil prices, and supporting imports and exports. While monitoring the situation in the Middle East, the teams will prepare effective response measures. If an oil price cap is implemented, the city plans to quickly promote the policy while strengthening guidance and on-site inspections for petroleum sellers.





The Incheon Institute To Hold 30th Anniversary Ceremony On The 25th


The Incheon Institute, the city’s think tank, will hold a ceremony marking its 30th anniversary at Songdo Convensia on March 25th at 10 a.m. The ceremony will include a report on the publication of the institute’s 30-year history and the announcement of its future vision for 2040. The Incheon Institute was established in 1996 and currently employs about 150 staff members, including 50 doctoral-level researchers and 33 research support staff with master’s or doctoral degrees. They support policy development and consultation across all areas of city administration, including public administration and finance, education and welfare, culture and tourism, regional economy, investment analysis, urban planning, transportation and logistics, and environment and safety.





Incheon Prepares Bid For Quantum Cluster Designation


Incheon Metropolitan City has begun efforts to attract a quantum cluster that integrates quantum technology with the city’s strategic industries, including bio and materials, parts, and equipment sectors. The city announced that it plans to apply for the government’s quantum cluster designation in the 2nd half of this year. Up to five metropolitan governments will be granted the status under the government’s national quantum cluster master plan. Last month, the city’s proposed planning research project for a differentiated quantum cluster was selected by the Ministry of Science and ICT. With the selection, the city plans to establish and submit a quantum cluster development plan in the first half of this year.





Incheon Teams Up With Medical Institutions To Link Discharged Patients To Integrated Care


Incheon Metropolitan City has signed a memorandum of understanding with 10 medical institutions in the city to strengthen community-based integrated care linkage for discharged patients. The agreement comes in response to rapid population aging and the rise in single-person households. It is also in preparation for the Integrated Medical and Care Service, scheduled to take effect on March 27. The goal is to build a community care infrastructure that allows elderly discharged patients to live healthy lives in the places where they previously lived. Under the agreement, a patient’s health condition and care needs will be monitored through designated staff members in participating hospitals before discharge. Then, patients who require community care will be immediately connected to their respective districts and counties.





Incheon Launches Integrated Public Service App “Incheon e-Wallet”


A blockchain-based integrated public service application called “Incheon e-Wallet” has been launched on February 26. To encourage citizen participation and activate its use, Incheon Metropolitan City will hold an commemorative event titled “Idea Proposal and Walking Challenge” from March 11 to 25. The Incheon e-Wallet app can be installed by searching for “Incheon e-Wallet” in mobile app stores. Using blockchain technology, citizens can easily issue a digital ID to verify their identity and access various administrative and welfare services in one integrated platform. Key features include eligibility verification services, storage and submission of e-certificates, one-stop applications for administrative services, citizen participation challenges, and a mobile library membership card linkage service. These functions are expected to improve convenience and accessibility to administrative services for citizens.
