Incheon Holds Public Hearing On Relaxing Building Distance Regulations


Incheon Metropolitan City has held a public hearing to gather opinions on possible revisions to building distance regulations between residential buildings, taking into account the city’s housing environment and urban conditions. Under the current building ordinance, when buildings face each other, the distance between them is determined in proportion to their height in order to consider impacts on residential environments such as sunlight, views, and privacy. Based on opinions presented at the hearing, the city plans to continue promoting building administration policies that create a pleasant residential environment while considering the sustainable development of the city.





Incheon Appoints No-Smoking Enforcement Guides To Create Smoke-Free City


Incheon Metropolitan City held an appointment ceremony on March 10 for Smoking Cessation Mentors for 2026. The mentor program comes as part of the city’s efforts to create a smoke-free and healthy urban environment. The 10 mentors who were appointed this year will serve for the next two years across the city, strengthening management of designated no-smoking zones and helping raise public awareness about smoking regulations. In accordance with the National Health Promotion Act and related ordinances, the mentors will monitor smoking in no-smoking zones, check whether facility standards for no-smoking areas are being followed, and carry out public education and promotional activities.





Incheon City Museum To Run Early Childhood Group Program 


The Incheon City Museum will operate an early childhood group education program called “Tiny Tots, Off To The Museum!" The program is an experience-based educational activity designed to help young children explore the museum in an easy and enjoyable way suited to their age level. It is structured so that children can become familiar with exhibitions and artifacts while naturally learning about history and culture through hands-on activities. The program will be held every Tuesday morning from April through June at the museum’s permanent exhibition hall and the third-floor Sunset View Room. Participation is open to kindergarten and daycare groups in Incheon with children aged four to five. Applications will be accepted for five days starting March 16, and participating institutions will be selected through a lottery.





Incheon Prepares Bid For Quantum Cluster Designation


Incheon Metropolitan City has begun efforts to attract a quantum cluster that integrates quantum technology with the city’s strategic industries, including bio and materials, parts, and equipment sectors. The city announced that it plans to apply for the government’s quantum cluster designation in the 2nd half of this year. Up to five metropolitan governments will be granted the status under the government’s national quantum cluster master plan. Last month, the city’s proposed planning research project for a differentiated quantum cluster was selected by the Ministry of Science and ICT. With the selection, the city plans to establish and submit a quantum cluster development plan in the first half of this year.





Incheon Teams Up With Medical Institutions To Link Discharged Patients To Integrated Care


Incheon Metropolitan City has signed a memorandum of understanding with 10 medical institutions in the city to strengthen community-based integrated care linkage for discharged patients. The agreement comes in response to rapid population aging and the rise in single-person households. It is also in preparation for the Integrated Medical and Care Service, scheduled to take effect on March 27. The goal is to build a community care infrastructure that allows elderly discharged patients to live healthy lives in the places where they previously lived. Under the agreement, a patient’s health condition and care needs will be monitored through designated staff members in participating hospitals before discharge. Then, patients who require community care will be immediately connected to their respective districts and counties.





Incheon Launches Integrated Public Service App “Incheon e-Wallet”


A blockchain-based integrated public service application called “Incheon e-Wallet” has been launched on February 26. To encourage citizen participation and activate its use, Incheon Metropolitan City will hold an commemorative event titled “Idea Proposal and Walking Challenge” from March 11 to 25. The Incheon e-Wallet app can be installed by searching for “Incheon e-Wallet” in mobile app stores. Using blockchain technology, citizens can easily issue a digital ID to verify their identity and access various administrative and welfare services in one integrated platform. Key features include eligibility verification services, storage and submission of e-certificates, one-stop applications for administrative services, citizen participation challenges, and a mobile library membership card linkage service. These functions are expected to improve convenience and accessibility to administrative services for citizens.
