IFEZ Conducts Inspection Of Gas Station Price Display System
An intensive inspection of gas stations will take place within the Free Economic Zone to check compliance with the petroleum price display system and distribution order. The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority will carry out the inspection, which comes as international oil prices rise amid continued instability in the Middle East, and last through March 31. The measure is intended to address consumer complaints related to domestic fuel price increases and prevent market disorder caused by false price display practices, thereby strengthening transparency in the market. A total of 13 gas stations will be inspected, including three in Songdo, eight in Yeongjong, and two in Cheongna. Key inspection items include compliance with petroleum price display regulations and the sale of products other than authorized petroleum products.
Middle East Conflict Puts Pressure On Used Car Exports From Incheon
The crisis in the Middle East is putting pressure on Incheon Port, which is Korea’s largest used car export hub. Of the 628,000 used cars exported through Incheon Port last year, more than 30% were shipped to countries with shipping routes affected by the war between Iran and the U.S. and Israel. These countries include Libya with 146,000 vehicles, the United Arab Emirates with 55,000, and Jordan with 31,000. Ships are currently taking detours for safety, causing delays in transportation. In addition, because payments in the industry are typically collected once the vehicles arrive at their destination ports, the delays are also tightening cash flow for exporters.
