Incheon Women’s Welfare Center Recruits Social Education Program Participants
The Incheon Women’s Welfare Center will begin accepting applications for its 2nd Social Education Courses for 2026 starting March 26. The courses will run from April 6 to June 20. A total of 89 classes across various tracks, including professional development, practical entrepreneurship, culture and wellness, and short-term special lectures will be offered, with 1,646 participants to be selected. Applications are open to all Incheon residents aged 18 and older based on two eligibility categories: “priority recruitment” and “general recruitment.”
Incheon Libraries Selected For National Reading Promotion Program
Central, Juan, Hwadojin, and Yeonsu libraries under the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education have been selected for the “2026 Reading With Libraries” national project organized by the National Library for Children and Young Adults. The program aims to provide reading culture programs to children from underserved communities with limited access to libraries, helping them discover the joy of reading and develop healthy reading habits. Selected libraries will collaborate with local children’s centers to offer customized reading programs, storytelling sessions with authors, and other activities from April to October.
Incheon Appoints Third Group Of Occupational Safety Monitors
Incheon Metropolitan City has appointed the third group of “Occupational Safety and Health Monitors,” who will inspect and guide safety management practices at industrial sites and carry out accident prevention activities. Since the program began in 2022, the monitors have focused on small-scale and high-risk workplaces, conducting inspections and providing guidance for improvements. In response to the recent increase in serious accidents at smaller industrial sites, the city plans to intensify inspections in connection with its initiative to address blind spots in major accident prevention.
Jung-gu Presents Vision For Future Development Of Yeongjong District
To mark the inaugural year of the establishment of Yeongjong-gu, Incheon’s Jung-gu will hold a “Residents’ Briefing Session on the Basic Urban Development Strategy Framework for Sustainable Growth in Yeongjong and Yongyu.” The urban development strategy framework aims to establish a long-term development blueprint for undeveloped areas that have faced infrastructure shortages and risks of unplanned development since being lifted from the free economic zone designation in 2011. The briefing will outline plans to address key obstacles to private investment, such as low profitability and insufficient infrastructure, while presenting a comprehensive vision for the district’s future growth.
Incheon Launches ‘Together For TB Zero’ Campaign For World TB Day
Incheon Metropolitan City will carry out an intensive public awareness campaign during Tuberculosis Prevention Week with the slogan, “Together for TB Zero,” in observance of World Tuberculosis Day on March 24. World Tuberculosis Day was established in 1982 to mark the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the tuberculosis bacterium, and aims to raise awareness and promote global cooperation for TB prevention and treatment. In Korea, March 24 has been designated as Tuberculosis Prevention Day since 2011, with annual commemorative events and nationwide campaigns held by local governments.
Incheon To Inspect Indoor Air Quality At 159 Facilities Including Subways
The Incheon Institute of Health and Environment will conduct indoor air quality inspections at 157 major multi-use facilities and two public transportation lines through December. The inspections will be held to protect public health and maintain a pleasant indoor environment. The facilities that will undergo inspection include 119 priority-managed sites such as daycare centers and medical institutions, and 38 self-managed facilities including large retail stores and indoor parking lots. Subway Lines 1 and 2 will also be inspected during both peak and off-peak hours. Starting in 2026, stricter standards for fine particulate matter will apply to facilities such as libraries, museums, art galleries, large retail stores, and academies, lowering the allowable limit from 50㎍/㎥ to 40㎍/㎥. Accordingly, monitoring and management will be further strengthened.
