Ongjin-gun signs three-year contract for West Sea island ferry route
Incheon’s Ongjin-gun has selected Daebu Shipping as the next operator of the ferry “Pureun Narae-ho,” which serves Baengnyeong, Daecheong, and Socheong islands, signing a three-year contract. The contract runs from the 6th of next month through April 5, 2029, with total support funding of 1.8 billion won, including labor and operating costs. Puruen Narae-ho is a 498-ton vessel built by Ongjin-gun, and can carry up to 200 passengers and 42 vehicles. It operates twice daily along the Baengnyeong–Daecheong–Socheong route.
Yulmok Library transforms into concert hall, hosts ‘Chamberfest 2026’
Chamberfest 2026 will be held at Yulmok Library, allowing residents to enjoy classical music in their everyday surroundings. The chamber music festival has been organized in collaboration with the professional ensemble “Verde Project Ensemble,” aiming to transform the library into an open cultural space that goes beyond reading to include music and the arts. The festival will be held three times: on March 28, May 9, and June 27, with all performances taking place on Saturdays at 4 p.m. in the library’s small theater. The event will be open to all local residents.
Incheon to recruit young adults with developmental disabilities for savings program
Incheon City will recruit 200 participants for its 2026 “Happiness Seed Savings Account” program, which supports asset building for young adults with developmental disabilities. Launched in 2021, the program is designed to help participants achieve greater independence.Under the program, participants save 150,000 won per month for three years, with the city and local governments matching the amount, bringing the total monthly savings to 300,000 won.Applications will be accepted from March 23 to April 3 at local administrative welfare centers, where applicants must submit identification.
Incheon launches full service of latest aerial and satellite imagery
Incheon Metropolitan City will expand high-quality spatial data services by providing the latest aerial and satellite imagery through its “iMap” portal. The newly available aerial images were produced using 2025 data from the National Geographic Information Institute, and offer high-resolution coverage of the entire city, spanning 686.37 square kilometers. Since 1985, Incheon has produced annual aerial images for use in public land management, monitoring changes in terrain and structures, and urban planning. With this latest update, the city has further enhanced its integrated image service system covering all of Incheon.
Incheon recruits youth supporters to create unification content
Incheon Metropolitan City is recruiting participants for the “2026 Incheon Unification Plus Center Youth Supporters” program from March 23 to April 3. The initiative aims to promote youth-led production and dissemination of peace and unification-related content. It is also intended to build intergenerational consensus on unification and raise awareness of the Incheon Unification Plus Center through social media outreach. Applicants must be between the ages of 19 and 39, either residing in Incheon or enrolled at a university in the city. Up to 10 participants will be selected for the program.
