Incheon to fully upgrade Songdo’s basic environmental facilities
Incheon Metropolitan City has announced plans to carry out regular maintenance of basic environmental facilities in Songdo during the first half of the year. The project, with a budget of 1.7 billion won, will run from late March to early May and cover facilities handling 140,000 tons of municipal waste, 10,000 tons of recyclables, and 40,000 tons of food waste annually. The Songdo Resource & Environment Center will undergo 15 improvement works, including replacement of main steam pipelines for waste heat boilers and maintenance of air pollution control systems. The upgrades aim to reduce pollutants from incineration processes and improve operational stability.
Incheon launches Ozone Advisory Service
The Incheon Institute of Health and Environment is operating an Ozone Advisory Service to help residents prepare for high ozone levels during the summer season. Ozone concentrations in Incheon have steadily increased from 0.025 ppm in 2016 to 0.0338 ppm in 2025, influenced by climate change and rising temperatures. High ozone levels can irritate the eyes, respiratory system, and lungs, particularly affecting vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly. Residents can sign up for alerts through the institute’s environmental information system, while warning and emergency text notifications are available via the city’s website.
44th Incheon Theater Festival to open April 1
The 44th Incheon Theater Festival will be held from April 1 to 18 at Munhak Theater and Haksan Small Theater. The festival aims to strengthen the creative capacity of local theater groups and expand cultural opportunities for residents. It also serves as a regional qualifier to select Incheon’s representative troupe for the 44th Korea Theater Festival to be held in Busan this July. The festival will open with a ceremony at Munhak Theater on April 1 at 5 p.m., and conclude with a closing ceremony and awards presentation at Haksan Small Theater on April 18 at 7:30 p.m.

Incheon holds tourism briefing to boost market with five key hubs
