Incheon Foundation for Arts & Culture to Host ‘Yogijogi Day’
Incheon Foundation for Arts & Culture will host a special event, “Yogijogi Day,” on May 23 at Incheon Art Platform. The event will mark the launch of the “2026 Traveling Cultural Performance: Yogijogi Music Concert” series. Yogijogi Day will be held once in the first half and once in the second half of this year. The first-half event has been organized to celebrate the official launch of the Yogijogi Music Concerts with citizens. It will showcase performances by music ambassadors of various genres in one place and offer residents a chance to enjoy live music in a casual outdoor setting. IFEZ to Break Ground on K-Bio Lab Hub in Songdo This Year
The K-Bio Lab Hub construction project in Songdo District 7 is proceeding as planned, having entered the full-scale groundbreaking phase. Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced the project is moving forward normally after undergoing various administrative procedures and design reviews, and that construction is planned to begin in the second half of this year. The project, which is a national core infrastructure project for bio startup support, will be built on the Yonsei University International Campus site and will feature one basement level and nine above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 20,375 square meters. The 217.3 billion won project is funded by the central government, the economic zone’s special accounts, and private-sector contributions. The complex is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.
Ongjin-gun to Make Lump-Sum Payments of Agricultural & Fisheries Allowance
Ongjin-gun has announced that it will pay the remaining portion of this year’s agricultural and fisheries allowance in a lump sum this month. The program provides 600,000 won per household annually to support agricultural and fishing families, and had previously been paid in monthly installments of 50,000 won. In line with Incheon Metropolitan City's livelihood stability support policy, Ongjin-gun will provide the remaining 400,000 won covering the final eight months of the year in a lump-sum to existing recipients. Meanwhile, new applicants will receive the full annual amount of 600,000 won in a single payment this month.
Incheon and Incheon National University to Tackle Social Isolation Together
Incheon Metropolitan City and Incheon National University will work together to address loneliness and social isolation among city residents. The two sides have signed a business agreement with the goal of “responding to loneliness and social isolation and realizing an inclusive society.” The partnership aims to promote a more inclusive society by recognizing loneliness as a broader social issue rather than an individual concern. Under the agreement, the two sides will expand cooperation in education and research and develop a range of community-linked programs.
Lake Cheongna Library Launches Reading Program for Children
Lake Cheongna Library has been selected for the National Library for Children and Young Adults’ 2026 “Reading Together with Libraries” initiative. As part of the program, the library will offer a 16-session program for children at the Simgok Community Children’s Center beginning this month. The theme of this program is “Art Through Books,” focusing on enhancing children’s creativity and interest in reading through various art activities linked to books. There will be reading programs combining books, art, and music, while children will be able to meet and interact with author So Yeon-jeong, broadening their understanding of books. On May 6, children toured Lake Cheongna Library and took part in a book call-number treasure hunt to heighten their interest in books for the first session.
Incheon Education Office to Offer Career Talks at Schools
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education will run a “Visiting Professional Career Talk” program from May 14 through July 31 at 16 middle and high schools in the city. The initiative will prioritize schools in older urban neighborhoods and two newly opened schools. The talks will be conducted in a “relay format, where students hear from working professionals in different industries consecutively, to allow them to experience diverse industries in a short period of time. Lecturers are working professionals in seven fields, including information technology, healthcare, the public sector, management, media and the arts. A total of 388 sessions are scheduled to provide practical career guidance and insights into various occupations.
