Incheon Metropolitan City has launched the “Mind Connection Library” project to help prevent loneliness and support emotional recovery of citizens through collaboration between public and private organizations. As loneliness has recently emerged as a significant social issue, the city plans to proactively address the issue by linking libraries with community welfare centers, youth centers and family support centers to create accessible spaces where residents can care for their mental well-being in daily life. The project consists of four components: “A Book for My Heart,” “Visiting Neighborhood Library,” “Warm Receipt,” and “Library Mind Walk.”

The Yeonsu-gu Public Health Center has launched its summer nighttime pest control campaign to prevent infectious diseases caused by mosquitoes and other pests. Since 2023, the district has used environmentally friendly ultra-low-volume (ULV) disinfection, and will continue operating area-specific control and systematic nighttime pest-control measures this year in partnership with professional pest management companies. Spraying will focus on mosquito breeding grounds such as vacant lots, residential complexes, back streets and areas with frequent citizen complaints.

Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Tourism Organization will hold the 2026 Incheon Skyhounds Canine Disc Festival on May 24 at the 1883 Open Port Square Sangsang Platform in Jung-gu. The event was selected as a flagship project under Incheon's 2026 pet-friendly tourism content initiative, promoted to build a unique pet-friendly tourism image for the city. The festival will combine pet sports, tourism and a wide range of hands-on activities for pet owners and their companions.

Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Foundation for Arts and Culture are accepting applications through June 5 from young visual artists to participate in the 2026 “Art·T Incheon,” a project to integrate art into everyday spaces in Incheon. The initiative aims to broaden Incheon citizens’ opportunities to enjoy the arts by bringing pop-up exhibitions to everyday venues such as cafés and bookstores, while also offering artist talks over tea and guided tours of art spaces throughout the city. Artists aged 39 or younger who live in Incheon or have at least two records of creative activity in the city are eligible to apply. Selected artists will receive exhibition opportunities and support for operation of exhibition-related programs as well as a nominal artist fee.

Campaign posters for candidates in the ninth nationwide local elections and National Assembly by-elections will be posted beginning May 21 at approximately 1,780 high-traffic locations across the city. According to the Incheon Metropolitan City Election Commission, the posters, prepared and submitted by candidates except those running in proportional representation elections, may include photographs, names, party affiliations, academic backgrounds, career histories, policy positions and other details related to the election. If there is any false information regarding a candidate’s profile or experience in the content of the election posters, anyone may file an objection with the local election commission.

The second annual food donation event for low-income senior citizens living alone has been held at a welfare center in Namdong-gu. The event, hosted by Incheon Metropolitan City and the Green Climate Fund (GCF), is one of the city’s representative community partnership initiatives involving international organizations based in Incheon. Donated goods were collected over the month of March with participation from GCF staff and students and faculty from Calvin Manitoba International School.  Thanks to the participants’ continued solidarity, a total of 52 boxes of supplies were collected, exceeding last year’s contributions.
